HPATKSPDDEFRES

Being an offensive unit, L’Arachel will naturally lean toward boons in Attack and Speed. Her IV choices tend to fit the archetype of an offensive unit.

Boons

  • +ATK: Always great for an offensive unit. This can be used well with both Ivaldi and Blade sets.
  • +SPD: The best IV for Blade sets. It also scores L’Arachel some key doubles, such as on Vidofnir Tana.

Neutral

  • HP: Not as important as Resistance and can be reduced safely if necessary.
  • RES: Mostly affects her Ploy skill prospects, and can be safely reduced if she is not running a Ploy skill.

Banes

  • -DEF: Ideal as L'Arachel won’t often be hit in her Defense, making it her least useful stat. However, do note that it is a superbane, meaning it lowers by 4 when reduced.

L’Arachel’s flagship build sees her take on the role of ranged attacker. Ivaldi’s stat boosts bring her neutral offenses up to a respectable 36/34 before buffs. With a Hone Cavalry, she can tear through opposing teams with relative ease. Swift Sparrow and Speed+3 seek to remedy her otherwise low Speed, allowing her to score some useful doubles. Fury is a good cheap alternative with nearly identical performance. If L'Arachel has a +Res IV, Fury is recommended, as it makes her Ploy skills even stronger.

Moonbow helps L'Arachel punch through high Resistance targets. Glimmer is nearly just as good, and can be used instead if that is preferred. B Tomebreaker is more of a formality, as she is forced to run it due to it being commonly seen on many other blue mages. She can forgo it for Lancebreaker, but this is not recommended unless a team has a unit who can comfortably handle blue mages such as Cecilia or Gunnthra.

L’Arachel’s support skills are generally team-dependent, the above skills assume she is being used on a Cavalry team. Hone Cavalry is the best choice for buffing allies, but can be dropped in mixed teams for Ploy skills or Attack Smoke. Reposition is a great tool for saving allies, but can be replaced with Dual Rally for buffs or Arena score.

L’Arachel’s Blarblade set is nearly identical to her Ivaldi set, but the change in weapon does affect her quite a bit. The loss of Speed forces her to run a +Spd nature in order to keep up. However, this version of her is every bit as strong as the Ivaldi set. Swift Sparrow and Speed +3 seek to remedy her otherwise low Speed, allowing her to score some useful doubles. Fury is a good cheap alternative with nearly identical performance. On this set, Glimmer is preferred over Moonbow due to L’Arachel’s increased firepower.

B Tomebreaker is once more a formality, as she is forced to run it due to it being commonly seen on many other blue mages. Again, L’Arachel’s support skills are generally team-dependent, but this version is very dependent on receiving Hone Cavalry support. Reposition is a great tool for saving allies, but can be replaced with Dual Rally for buffs or Arena score. If you’re running another Blade tome user on your team (such as Cecilia) the Dual Rally skill is recommended, as it provides a noticeable power boost.

Introduction

L’Arachel is the latest of many blue mounted mages to come to Fire Emblem Heroes. Amongst them, the princess of Rausten is notable for having the highest overall offensive statline at an optimal 33/34 (beating out Olwen at 30/35). Thanks to this, she sits as one of the best choices for offensive cavalry outside of the ubiquitous Reinhardt. She’s also notable for having higher resistance than Olwen and Ursula, allowing her to take defensive roles when needed.
She can be played with her innate Ivaldi tome, but hits hardest with the powerful Blarblade.

Unfortunately, L’Arachel has to make some difficult concessions when it comes to builds. Both her Ivaldi and Blarblade builds are strong, but she will have to pick between the faster Ivaldi and the stronger Blarblade. She has some of the typical mage shortcomings as well, with some added caveats due to being cavalry. Low Defense is a problem, even with Ivaldi’s meager boost. She does not have the required resistance to survive many Wolf tome users, and loses hard vs. units such as Micaiah when she runs B Tomebreaker. In conculsion, L’Arachel can be seen as a slightly better version of Ursula and Olwen -- with better raw stats than Ursula and easier-to-obtain IV’s than Olwen, she makes a strong case over both as the best blue Blade cavalry.

Strengths

Excellent mobility and access to powerful buffs

Belonging to the cavalry class suits L'Arachel's role as an offensive unit, giving her additional movement and access to Hone Cavalry, one of the strongest single buffs in the game.

With a Blarblade, she can demolish teams with just one buff. Hone Cavalry gives her +6 Attack and Speed, as well as Blade tome bonus damage.

Access to the Ivaldi Tome

Olwen and Ursula are best suited for Blarblade builds, while L’Arachel has another viable choice, her unique tome Ivaldi.

This allows her to be used effectively outside cavalry teams, and is less reliant on their buffs than Olwen/Ursula.

The defensive boost can help in a few select situations, and helps her take hits from dragons with refined weapons.

Decent resistance

L’Arachel has decent Resistance, and can survive hits from some blue mages.

She’s a decent user of Ploy skills, especially with Fury and a +Res IV.

Weaknesses

Low HP and defense

Low HP makes it very easy for L’Arachel to be affected by Panic Ploy, an especially nasty thing if she’s running a Blarblade.

She’s not a sturdy magic tank by any regard, despite having good Resistance. Green mages and Wolf tomes cut straight through her.

Low speed for an offensive unit

L'Arachel is one point slower than Ursula without a boon, and four points slower than neutral Olwen.

Low speed limits her skill builds, as she is desperate for every point in Speed to score crucial doubles against targets, especially with Blarblade.

Being Cavalry can hurt her in some ways

Her movement is limited on some Arena maps, especially those with trenches and forests.

Anti-Cavalry weapons are direct counters to her, ignoring her buffs and easily slaying her. Micaiah is also a problem, due to her high Resistance and Thani dealing effective damage to Cavalry.

Team Options

L’Arachel has the choice of being on pure cavalry teams, but also functions decently well in mixed teams. To be more specific: Blarblade variants are more limited to cavalry teams, as they rely heavily on Hone Cavalry to sweep. Ivaldi L’Arachel is less reliant on buffs, but still shines with them. Strong melee reds are a good partner for her, as they can remove troublesome green units who can beat L’Arachel with Distant Counter.

  • Strong Cavalry Units: Brave Lyn, Cecilia, Gunnthra, Eldigan, and Sigurd are the best of the Cavalry unit class, and all make great teammates for L’Arachel. Sigurd and Cecilia are notable for being able to tank Reinhardt, something L’Arachel cannot do without heavy investment.
  • Strong Reds: Ike, Ryoma, Zelgius, Black Knight, and Ayra can all waste the Distant Counter greens that annoy L’Arachel, and with Distant Counter themselves, can handle green mages too. A special mention should be given to Zelgius, who can keep up with L’Arachel’s high movement with his unique skill Warp Powder.
Counters

L’Arachel’s low Defense and HP make her an easy picking for strong physical units, even neutral ones. Her biggest walls are green units with Distant Counter and enough HP to avoid a OHKO. Units running Wolf tomes are also a problem, as are faster units with B Tomebreaker.

  • Bulky Greens: Hector, Dorcas, Amelia, Sheena, Winter Chrom, Fae, Camilla, and Titania either have innate Distant Counter or run it very commonly. L’Arachel will have to rely on teammates to handle these units for her.
  • Tanky Blues: Effie, Lute, Micaiah, Winter Robin, Gwendolyn, and Florina can all easily avoid the KO from L’Arachel and destroy her on the counter. If some of these units lack Distant Counter however, they can be slain easily with an ally or dancer.
  • High Res Green Mages: Nino, Soren, Julia, Deirdre, Robin(F), Rhajat, Cecilia and Gunnthra are bad news for L’Arachel. Robin (F) and Rhajat are particularly nasty, being natural wielders of Gronnwolf, which deals effective damage to cavalry. Gunnthra can neuter L’Arachel from across the map with Chilling Seal.
  • Other threats: Felicia, Faye, Sigurd, Brave Lyn, and Niles are some other miscellaneous units to watch out for. They can all tank L’Arachel and KO her in return with ease.
