Boons
-
+ATK: With an already exceptional base value of 37, Laevatein prefers a boon in Attack above all else in order to increase her damage output during both Player and Enemy Phase.
-
+SPD: Speed also makes for an acceptable choice of boon. Although somewhat middling at a base value of 31, a boon in Speed allows Laevatein to avoid crucial follow-up attacks from mid-high tier Speed units, greatly reducing the amount of damage she takes.
Neutral
-
DEF: While raising it is not a priority, Laevatein prefers to keep her Defense neutral in order to keep her solid physical bulk of 73 intact.
-
HP: Similarly, Laevatein would rather avoid her superbane in HP (-4 reduction rather than the standard -3), as it can be detrimental to her overall survivability. However, it could also assist in the activation of Specials such as Wrath and Vantage.
Banes
-
-RES: Resistance is Laevatein’s weakest stat and best bane that she can receive, as dropping it hardly affects her overall performance.

Thanks to her personal weapon’s ability to scale damage with field buffs, Laevatein is very versatile in the way she can approach opponents. This set aims to find a medium between offensive and defensive combat in order to make Laevatein an effective combatant in both Player and Enemy Phase. As such, the additional damage from an Attack boon makes it the overall best choice of IVs. A boon in Speed is also acceptable and makes for a particularly strong option for Enemy Phase combat, as it allows Laevatein to avoid follow-up attacks from a wider range of opponents.
Laevatein has several options for her Special: Glimmer makes for an especially strong choice with Laevatein’s weapon thanks to its low cooldown and ability to scale with the additional damage received from field buffs. When combined with Special Spiral, Glimmer will be ready to go every single round of combat following its initial activation. Moonbow is identical in cooldown to Glimmer but makes for a stronger choice against particularly bulky units such as Nowi and Fallen Hardin.
Moving on, the choice of A skill is dependant on if one wants to focus more on combat in the Player or Enemy Phase. Death Blow makes for a very strong Player Phase option, especially with this OHKO playstyle by granting an additional +8 Attack on initiation. Meanwhile, Fierce Breath is a strong choice for combat in the Enemy Phase. Not only does it allow Laevatein to activate her Special more frequently, but it also gives her a boost to her raw damage when initiated on.
Both Odd Atk Wave and Odd Spd Wave makes for a fantastic choice of C skills, as they make Laevatein more self-sufficient by granting her a significant boost to her Attack/Speed on odd numbered turns. Otherwise, the C skill can be replaced as needed to suit the team.
For her Sacred Seal, Quick Riposte bolsters Laevatein’s Enemy Phase prowess by guaranteeing her follow-up attack when initiated on. This can make it a consistent answer to mid-high tier Speed units such as Lucina and Soleil. Finally, Quickened Pulse gives Laevatein a head start to activating Special Spiral by accelerating her Special cooldown on turn 1.

Sacred Seal: Atk/Def Bond / Close Defense / Quick Riposte / Atk Smoke
This build specializes solely on combat in the Enemy Phase. In addition to Attack and Speed Speed, Defense also makes for a suitable choice of boon by boosting Laevatein’s physical bulk as well as adding additional damage to Defense-scaling Specials such as Ignis.
Glimmer and Moonbow remain strong picks for Specials, as Laevatein will be able to activate them on every single counterattack when combined with a Breath skill. Specials with a cooldown of 3-4 can make for even stronger alternatives and will activate every round of combat assuming that Quick Riposte is active. Blue Flame makes for a particularly strong option thanks to its extraordinary damage potential and consistency with this Enemy Phase oriented playstyle.
Quick Riposte is an essential skill as it guarantees Laevatein’s follow-up attack in the Enemy Phase. Alternatively, one can move Quick Riposte to the Sacred Seal slot in favor of running Guard as her B skill. Guard will greatly reduce damage taken from opponents that rely on activating their Special such as Ayra and Zelgius. This also applies to all armored units running Bold Fighter, as their follow-up attacks cannot be avoided if they initiate on Laevatein, along with granting them additional Special charge. Wrath also makes for a strong choice; once active, Laevatein will gain a boost in both the power and frequency of her Special activation.
On top of Wave skills, Laevatein can also make effective use of Smoke skills. In particular, Attack Smoke makes her a better overall tank by reducing the damage output of opponents around her after combat. Moving on to Sacred Seals, Atk/Def Bond makes for a very strong option by boosting both Laevatein's physical bulk and damage when adjacent to an ally, suiting her Enemy Phase playstyle perfectly. Close Def is another good choice, as it will reduce damage taken from all melee opponents when initiated on. If not already being used in the B slot, Quick Riposte seal is essential in allowing Laevatein to consistently perform follow-up attacks in the Enemy Phase. The same applies to Atk Smoke, which can also be run here if it is not already being used in the C slot.

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade
Though reliant on field buffs, Laevatein’s weapon is very potent in OHKOs. This is especially true against ranged units due to their physical bulk being lower on average. By adopting the same playstyle as Ares and WT-Reinhardt, this set aims to make Laevatein an untouchable Enemy Phase ranged check by utilizing the skill Distant Counter. Since this build is extremely reliant on Laevatein being able to take out her opponent in only one hit, a boon in Attack is the most desirable nature that Laevatein can receive.
Glimmer is once again a choice Special thanks to its consistent activation rate and potency with the damage-scaling effect. When combined with the Heavy Blade Sacred Seal, Laevatein can potentially activate her Special every other round of combat.
The main function of this build is running Distant Counter with Vantage. Upon hitting the HP threshold for Vantage, any subsequent opponents that initiate on Laevatein are forced to take the at least one hit from her weapon before even having the chance to counterattack. With this combination, Laevatein can potentially take out multiple opponents in the Enemy Phase unscathed. However, the amount of support that Laevatein needs in order to take out her opponent in only one hit can vary greatly depending on who she is facing. Bulky ranged units such as Winter Tharja can prove to be much tougher nuts to crack.
In addition to Wave skills, Def Smoke also makes a great choice of C skill for Laevatein as a standalone unit. By reducing the physical bulk of opponents around her after combat, any affected targets that initiate on her afterward will be hit even harder during any turn. As stated previously, Heavy Blade makes for a very effective choice of Sacred Seal by allowing Laevatein to activate her Special more frequently. Additionally, its activation will be consistent thanks to her weapon’s damage scaling property.

Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade
Through the combination of Special Spiral and the Heavy Blade Sacred Seal, Laevatein can also make extremely effective use of AOE Specials. Following their initial activation, these Specials will drop to a cooldown of only 2. Their activation before combat, as well as Laevatein’s attack with the Heavy Blade Sacred Seal during combat, allow for them to be readily activated every single time. This one-shot playstyle once again makes Attack the choice boon to have, as it increases Laevatein’s raw damage as well as the power behind her Special activation.
As for the Special itself, Blazing Wind is generally the most consistent among the AOE skills thanks to its wide range. This makes it easier to catch other enemies in its range and hit them with heavy non-lethal damage. However, both Blazing Flame and Blazing Thunder work as solid alternatives. In order to maximize Laevatein’s OHKO potential as well as the power behind her Special activation, Death Blow makes for the best option by granting a very strong Attack boost on initiation. Last but not least, Odd Atk Wave remains a fantastic self-sufficient option for Laevatein thanks to the significant Attack buff it provides during odd-numbered turns.
Introduction
As another addition to the already oversaturated pool of sword-wielding infantry, Laevatein manages to bring something that is both unique and powerful in the form of a weapon that shares her name. With the ability to scale damage based on field buffs - an effect that has been exclusive to tomes until now, Laevatein is just as strong as one might expect. If that wasn’t enough, the weapon also grants a passive +3 boost to Laevatein’s Attack.
Statwise, Laevatein heavily leans towards Attack. At a phenomenal base value of 37 (40 with her weapon equipped), Laevatein has the potential to take out her opponents in only a single hit depending on the amount of buffs she has received. In addition to this, Laevatein also sports an impressive 73 physical bulk, making her a solid tank for physical hits. Although her base Speed of 31 may some rather middling, it can serve as a major asset defensively. Through team support such as Hone Speed, Laevatein can avoid follow-up attacks from mid-high tier Speed opponents and greatly reduce the amount of damage she takes.
Laevatein’s greatest weaknesses stem from her poor Resistance and over-reliance on team support. With only 61 magical bulk at base, Laevatein will seldom survive more than a single hit from a strong magical attacker. Furthermore, Laevatein requires the same team support for her weapon as any Blade tome user would which can limit the overall flexibility of her team.
Despite this, Laevatein’s reliance on team support is overshadowed by the incredible damage ceiling of her weapon as well as the versatility in builds that she can utilize well.
Strengths
Laevatein
In addition to the passive +3 boost to Attack, Laevatein scales damage based on field buffs similar to a that of a Blade tome, allowing for absurd damage at maximum potential.
Phenomenal Attack
At a base value of 37, Laevatein hits hard with her raw Attack alone. In addition to this, it adds to the potency of Attack-scaling Specials such as Dragon Fang and AOE Specials.
Good Physical Bulk
Laevatein has a solid physical bulk of 73, making her a suitable physical tank as well as an effective user of Defense-scaling Specials such as Ignis depending on the skill-set she is running.
Weaknesses
Poor Magical Bulk
With only 61 magical bulk at base, Laevatein is susceptible to getting heavily chunked, if not outright killed by strong magical attacks.
Highly reliant on team support
Although her weapon is incredibly powerful, Laevatein requires an ample amount of team support in order to reach its full potential.
Team Options
Counters
-
Magical Damage Dealers: Ophelia, Ishtar, Reinhardt, Lilina, Celica, and Linde can all make short work of Laevatein’s subpar magical bulk.
-
Physically Bulky Blues: Fallen Hardin, Brave Hector, Winter Robin, Nowi, and Lukas can easily mitigate the amount of damage that Laevatein is able to do thanks to their high physical bulk and Weapon Triangle advantage. Additionally, units that run the skill Guard can wall her off completely by preventing her from activating her Specials.
- Panic Ploy: Due to Laevatein being reliant on having field buffs active in order to deal significant damage, getting hit by the skill Panic Ploy can completely put her out of commission for the turn. Common high-HP users include Hector, Arden, Effie, Zephiel, and Sheena.

One of my new 5* units to my collection is the possibly my favorite of the muspell generals is Laevataein. When I first saw her she reminded me of Selena who’s my waifu. Mostly due to the twintails. Her ivs are +spd, -def which I think aren’t too bad cause 31 defense is still solid. Especially with her default fury.
As for her build I think i’m keeping it default. All I did is gave her glimmer and she’ll be done. Glimmer is probably better for her special due to the simple fact that her weapon Laevataein has the effects of a blade tome and blade tome builds run glimmer. I might try a different build while I think about it.
In conclusion Laevataein is a sword nuker with her weapon. I have enjoyed Selena who is a twintailed swordie waifu. I have a feeling I might also enjoy using Laevataein aka Selena 2 too.

Yes, this Laevatien is merged. (One merge.)
P.S: I May make another if I am to merge her again. Also, she is currently Support Rank A With my Clarisse.
This is the build I use for Laevatein in the arena mode. Sol is Laevatein's vital move because if she is to sustain enough damage to put her at risk, Sol is there to help her out. Defiant Def 3 Can and will help her in a very bad situation, with the Defense boost she can easily dodge a bullet.
Well... not against a mage... Her resistance is whopping low. So, at least she can recover a huge amount of hit points when using Sol against a mage.
Savage Blow 2 is supposed to help out the rest of my units, While Renewal 2 restores her HP while avoiding combat.
Finally, Seal Atk 1.
This Seal I use for Laevatein helps her even in the roughest of situations. Remember Defiant Def 3? Well, reduced attack + A Defensive Laevatein will make you think.

I had an explanation, but it got deleted, so here's a summary:
Player Phase Laevatein:
Laevatein: 19mt + Blade tome?! Utterly broken.
Draw Back: This build is solely player phase, so this works well. If you run Desperation, however, you could use Ardent Sacrifice to get off the HP needed to activate it.
Glimmer: She already puts out the damage of a special, so this is perfect for her.
Life and Death: Combining this with the Attack seal and boon, she hits 67/39 for offensive stats.
Chill Def: Great for softening up enemies. Alternatively, you could use Desperation. Although you have to get her to 75%, you can use Ardent Sacrifice, as she has about 40HP. This allows her to double without fear of retaliation.
Odd Spd Wave: Buffs her speed to 45 and gives +6 to damage.
Attack +3: Damage output.
All in all, a solid player phase build with a broken attack stat makes for an amazing unit.

Galeforce | C | Atk Smoke 3 |

This build aims to exploit Laevatein's colossal damage potential without any specials via her weapon's effect. It expects plenty of support in visible buffs, especially to her spd, which is marginal for a unit looking for follow-up attacks.
The ideal A-skill for this build is probably the not-yet-existent spd/def solo, which helps her struggling spd as well as her survivability when taking multiple hits to her unimposing HP. Another highly effective skill would be the also not-yet-existent brazen spd/def. In all cases, this build needs follow-up attacks, so I have chosen darting blow, a very consistent option which will activate from the beginning of the fight.
Renewal and desperation can both be considered for B-skills. Galeforce cannot activate from 5 charges when desperation is active, but if desperation is active she has likely just activated galeforce or taken a hit during enemy phase.

Potentially a difficult build to get rolling, but it's a fairly straightforward take on the savage vantage build. The idea is to find some way to charge up the special, splash everyone with a bunch of damage and perhaps some def debuffs, and finish them all on enemy phase. The more visible buffs on her at any time - whether to get the AoE special charged, or on the AoE special, or during vantage mode, the better this build works.
