Boons
- +SPD: Ideal for Firesweep builds, as Klein will be extremely reliant on his ability to perform follow-up attacks to inflict the most amount of damage.
- +ATK: An Attack boon is an excellent choice to help boost his raw damage output and is ideal for Brave Builds in order to reliably secure ORKOs against opposing units.
Neutral
-
DEF: While his Defense stat is rather low, it is best left of neutral since his physical bulk is sufficient enough to allow him to take a single hit from a physical damage dealing foe.
- HP: This stat should also remain untouched since taking an HP bane results in this stat lowering by 4 points as opposed to the typical 3, lowering his overall bulk substantially.
Banes
- RES: Although Klein’s Resistance is not his weakest stat, lowering it allows Klein to retain his physical bulk while still possessing enough magical bulk to take on a single hit from a mage.

The Firesweep Bow is an incredibly powerful weapon, effectively canceling out all enemy counterattacks. This allows Klein to go for an all-out offensive approach and thanks to his decent offensive spread, he can do so to great effect. Like all Firesweep users, Klein will be heavily reliant on his ability to perform follow-up attacks for his damage output, making a Speed boon of the utmost necessity.
Any movement Assist like Reposition works perfectly fine here, with the choice of which to use being left up entirely to personal preference. Moonbow is Klein’s Special of choice, allowing him to do significant damage to bulkier opponents and will activate in every round of combat with the Flashing Blade, provided that he can double his opponent. However, if utilizing any other seal, Luna will be preferred over Moonbow as they will both activate in every other round of combat.
Atk/Spd Solo offers Klein the greatest boost to his offenses possible, letting him potentially reach 45 Speed unbuffed with a Speed boon and the Speed +3 Seal, but does require him to have no adjacent allies to have its effect active -- as Klein will already be away from his allies most of this time thanks to this build's offensive playstyle, its positioning requirement is negligible. Life and Death makes for a suitable alternative should Atk/Spd Solo be unavailable, granting him a strong boost to his offensive potential in exchange for a sharp decrease to his defenses. However, due to the nature of the Firesweep Bow’s effect, the cut to his defenses is negligible will generally be a non-issue since he should rarely if ever, be hit. Swift Sparrow is also an option to have Klein potentially tank a hit in the Enemy Phase but it comes with the cost of providing a slightly less powerful boost to his offenses.
His B slot with this build is fairly flexible and is open to several different options. Chill Spd is a particularly effective option when used in tandem with the Firesweep Bow and helps secure follow-up attacks against speedy foes who would otherwise pose a threat; it also has the added benefit of potentially providing team support. Chill Def is also an excellent choice to increase Klein’s and fellow Defense-targeting teammates’ raw damage output. Other options include Cancel Affinity to help against TA Raven mages, Wings of Mercy to grant him greater mobility and flexibility in the Player Phase, and Poison Strike to deal chip damage against opponents who Klein cannot ORKO.
Def Smoke is a powerful, albeit expensive, choice for a C slot and is most effective when using Klein alongside refreshers. Even Spd Wave is also an option to further build upon Klein’s ability to perform follow-up attacks but otherwise, any C slot that most benefits his team can be used here.

- Special: Luna / Moonbow
- Passive A: Death Blow
- Passive B: Chill Def / Swordbreaker / Flexible
- Passive C: Odd Atk Wave / Threaten Def / Flexible
- Sacred Seal: Attack +3 / Quickened Pulse
A relatively straightforward build using Klein’s native Brave Bow, aiming to maximize his damage output with his first two strikes. Due to the nature of Brave weapons, an Attack boon translates to a significant +6 damage increase and is ideal in order for Klein to more reliably ORKO his opponent. It is also recommended to further augment his ORKO potential through the use of Attack buffs and the Attack +3 Seal.
Klein’s Assist slot is open to anything, with movement Assists like Reposition being great options once again. Luna is a fantastic choice of Special to help mediate the Brave Bow’s relatively low Mt and is extremely useful against high Defense opponents Klein would typically barely scratch. Moonbow is also an option when using the Quickened Pulse Seal to have Klein’s Special activate in his first round of combat. However, if using any other Seal, Luna will always be the preferred option as they will both activate in every other round of combat.
Klein’s native Death Blow pairs perfectly with the Brave Bow and grants him with an impressive +12 damage output increase. For his B slot, Chill Def is ideal and helps improve Klein’s individual performance significantly, lowering the Defense stat of the opponent with the highest Defense by 7 points. Swordbreaker is a cheaper and more readily available option and helps against tanky swords who require more than two hits to be taken out. One can also choose to run any Breaker of their choosing to help against a particular weapon type that his teammates have difficulty in dealing with.
His C slot is flexible here as well and is open to any skill that best caters to his teammates’ needs. One particularly noteworthy option, however, is Odd Atk Wave. In addition to giving him a considerable boost to his ORKO potential, Odd Atk Wave allows Klein to provide team support on odd-numbered turns. Threaten Def can also help increase Klein’s damage output but it can prove to be somewhat more difficult to use and can be redundant if used alongside Chill Def.
Introduction
Klein is an infantry archer with a decent offensive spread of 31/33, allowing him to run powerful weapons such as the Firesweep and Brave Bow with considerable success. His excellent availability also makes building him up a generally straightforward and easy task. While both of his defensive stats are fairly low, his relatively high HP pool for an archer works in his favor and gives him sufficient enough bulk to take a single physical or magical hit from an opposing foe.
However, as is the case with units whose bulk mainly lies in their HP, Klein will easily fall to sustained offensive pressure. Klein also faces fierce competition from other infantry archers such as Bridal Cordelia, Innes, and Summer Noire who have strictly better offensive spreads and can exceed his raw damage output. Nevertheless, Klein can still prove to be a fantastic offensive unit and worthy of a slot on a given team, with most of his issues being easily fixed through a supportive team composition.
Strengths
Decent Offensive Spread
Klein’s stats lend themselves to offensively oriented builds and let him be an excellent source of damage output if provided with the right skills and team support.
High Availability
Klein is currently available in the 3-4* pool, making getting merges and the perfect IVs for him a relatively easier task in comparison to his competition.
Decent HP Pool
Sporting a neutral physical and magical bulk of 60 and 64 respectively, Klein can generally safely take a hit from an enemy, regardless of the type of damage they deal.
Weaknesses
Low Defense and Resistance
Klein’s bulk is largely attributed to his good HP pool and while this does allow him to safely take a singular hit in retaliation, his low defensive stats render him extremely susceptible to sustained offensive pressure.
Heavy Competition
Klein faces intense competition from many other infantry archers who can easily contest and exceed his damage output due to their superior offensive stat lines, making any effort to build Klein a somewhat fruitless endeavor if one already possesses similar units.
Team Options
Counters
-
Raven tomes: Users of the TA Raven tome combination, such as Lyon, Spring Camilla, and Robin (M), have long been a strong counter to many colorless units like Klein and can dispose of them quickly. However, such units should be wary of Kleins running Cancel Affinity.
-
Tanks: High Defense tanks can take the brunt of Klein’s attacks and use his attacks to their advantage, further charging their Specials. Armors such as Sheena, Hector (LA), Draug, Arden, and Zelgius particularly excel in doing so by stacking armor buffs.
-
Strong offense: Klein easily falls to strong offensive units, provided that they initiate against him. Units like Cherche, Ayra, Tana, Cordelia, and Elincia all similarly break through Klein’s defenses and are effective counters to the Etrurian archer as well.

Ardent Sacrifice | B | Desperation 3 |

Moonbow | C | Breath of Life 3 |
This build attempts to make Klein a two in one healer/attacker by taking both the offensive potential Klein has, and merging it with support and healer roles. Life and death compensates for the speed taken off from the brave bow at the cost of lower defenses. Breath of life and ardent sacrifice allows Klein to heal nearby units either for free or at the cost of 10 health.
With ardent sacrifice, Klein heals an ally while at the same time putting him in the desperation threshold on attack. If given the breath of life seal which stacks with breath of life 3, Klein can heal ten HP to nearby allies.
With moonbow and life and death, it's possible for Klein to quad attack and even use moonbow twice in a turn if given the circumstances.
This build synergizes very well with an ally that uses reciprocal aid and/or vantage as Klein can give up health which either sets him up for desperation, or an ally can use to reciprocal aid and put themselves to vantage thresholds.

+1 5*, Neutral IV'd. +ATK IV is of course the best for the boy Klein, but a +SPD IV can grant him access to quadding for him, with the help of LnD3.
DB3 - Best thing to maximise attack output. He also comes with it.
B Tomebreaker 3 - Klein basically beats every unit barring Raven tomes and high defense units. The breaker is flexible, but quick riposte is also a good budget option because he comes with it. This boy's starting set is too good.
Hone Spd 3 - I pair my Klein with my Nino often because they're simply too good together. As Gronnblade takes advantage of bonuses on the unit, a speed boost is always good for her. This slot is very flexible.
Draw Back - Flexible. I like me drawback and reposition.
Luna - He doesn't NEED a special to break everyone's souls, but a 50% reduction in defense is pretty good.
