Assets

  • +ATK: Attack is Keaton’s most impressive stat at a staggering base value of 41 and without a doubt the best asset that he can receive. Not only does this nature suit his unique weapon perfectly, it also comes with a boost of +4 rather than the usual +3.

Neutral

  • DEF/HP: Although raising these stats is not a priority, Keaton prefers to keep his Defense and HP neutral in order to keep his impressive physical bulk intact.

Flaws

  • -SPD/RES: With low base values in both Speed and Resistance, Keaton can safely take a flaw in either without hurting his overall performance.

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred IV: +ATK / -SPD or -RES

  • Weapon: Wolfskin Fang

  • Assist: Reposition

  • Special: Moonbow / Glimmer

  • Passive A: Distant Counter

  • Passive B: Vantage

  • Passive C: Def Smoke / Odd Atk Wave / Hone Beasts / Flexible

  • Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade

Taking a page out of WT-Reinhardt’s book, this set takes advantage of Wolfskin Fang by making Keaton an untouchable Enemy Phase combatant against both physical and ranged opponents through the combination of Distant Counter and Vantage. Since this build revolves around defeating opponents in only two consecutive hits, an asset in Attack is the most desirable nature that Keaton can receive.

For his Special, Moonbow makes for the best option thanks to its consistent damage output and low cooldown. When combined with the Heavy Blade Sacred Seal, Keaton can potentially activate his Special every single round of combat. Glimmer can also make for a solid choice, particularly against opponents with high HP.

Running Vantage in tandem is the focal point of this set. Upon hitting the HP threshold for Vantage, any subsequent opponents that initiate on Keaton will be forced to take the full impact of Keaton’s consecutive attacks as well as the activation of his Special. With this combination of skills, Keaton can take out multiple opponents during the Enemy Phase completely unscathed.

Def Smoke is a great choice for Keaton as a standalone unit. By reducing the physical bulk of opponents around him after combat, any affected targets that initiate on him afterward will be hit even harder. Similarly, Odd Atk Wave grants Keaton a significant buff to his own attack at the start of odd-numbered turns. For a good team-synergetic option, Hone Beasts allows for Keaton to be a benefactor when run alongside other beasts by providing them with significant buffs. Otherwise, the C slot can be replaced as needed to suit the team.

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred IV: +ATK / -SPD or -RES

  • Weapon: Wolfskin Fang

  • Assist: Reposition

  • Special: Ignis / Blazing Wind / Moonbow

  • Passive A: Death Blow

  • Passive B: Special Spiral

  • Passive C: Odd Atk Wave / Hone Beasts / Flexible

  • Sacred Seal: Heavy Blade

In contrast to the previous set, this one takes more of an offensive approach by making Keaton hit as hard as possible during the Player Phase. As such, Attack remains the choice asset for Keaton in order to get get the most damage possible out of Wolfskin Fang as well as allowing Heavy Blade to activate more consistently.

Special Spiral is a phenomenal skill that allows Keaton to activate powerful Specials at a constant rate and can be taken a step even further by utilizing the Heavy Blade Sacred Seal. This bread and butter combination works best with Specials that have a cooldown of 4, as they will be ready to go after every single round of combat following their initial activation. Ignis, in particular, makes for an incredibly effective choice with its consistently high damage output thanks to Keaton’s exceptional Defense.

AOE Special such as Blazing Wind also makes for a very strong option. After their initial activation, these Specials will drop to a cooldown of only 2. Their activation before combat, as well as Keaton’s attack during combat allow for them to be readily activated every single round of combat. These Specials can make for an interesting choice against close-knit teams by dealing heavy non-lethal damage to both the unit being attacked as well as any other nearby enemies. For a less powerful but more consistent alternative to the aforementioned, one can also choose to run a Special with a cooldown of 2 such as Moonbow in order to activate Keaton’s Special during his first round of combat.

For his A skill, Death Blow gives Keaton all he needs by providing him with the strongest possible boost to Attack on initiation. Finally, Odd Atk Wave remains a fantastic self-sufficient option for Keaton thanks to the significant Attack buff it provides during odd-numbered turns.

Introduction

Keaton is an absolute monster both figuratively and literally. With an obscene 41 base Attack at base that can be boosted up to an unbelievable 45 with an asset, Keaton hits like a freight train. In addition to this, Keaton’s also stands out with an impressive base value of 38, allowing him to perform well as a physical tank. However, Keaton’s true power comes from his weapon.

Keaton’s unique weapon, Wolfskin Fang, is a perfect fit for his statline. With it, Keaton can perform consecutive attacks in both Player and Enemy Phase. It also comes with another ability unique to the beast class; when adjacent to another beast or dragon unit or when not adjacent to any units at the start of the turn, Keaton will transform into his beast form. If you didn’t think Keaton was doing enough damage, this transformation further boosts his Attack by 2 and grants him +10 damage upon the activation of his Special.

Keaton isn’t without his weaknesses. Having terrible Speed and Resistance, Keaton will find himself taking significant damage from magical attacks as well as getting doubled by nearly every opponent he faces. This makes Keaton fold rather quickly in face of powerful mages that he cannot counter-attack.

Despite this, Keaton is a fantastic unit with the ability to do incredible damage during both Player and Enemy Phase and can be a strong and versatile addition to any team.

Strengths

Unbelievably High Attack

With 41 base Attack that can be boosted up to 45 through an asset, Keaton is able to hit extremely hard and make great use of the skill Heavy Blade in order to accelerate the cooldown of his Specials.

Wolfskin Fang

Wolfskin Fang makes perfect use of Keaton’s high Attack by allowing him to perform consecutive attacks during both Player and Enemy Phase.

Incredible Physical Bulk

Keaton’s standout 83 physical bulk makes him a great physical tank as well as an effective user of Defense-scaling Specials such as Ignis.

Beast

Keaton’s ability to transform under certain conditions grants him a significant boost to his offensive power as well as access to powerful class-exclusive buffs such as Hone Beasts.

Weaknesses

Terrible Speed and Resistance

With both Speed and Resistance sitting at low-end values of 24 (-5 with Wolfskin Fang equipped) and 19 respectively, Keaton will find himself taking significant damage from magical attacks as well as getting doubled by most opponents.

Team Options

  • Beasts: In addition to providing him with powerful class-exclusive buffs, beast allies such as Velouria, Kaden, Naesala, Selkie, Reyson, and Leanne satisfy the condition for Keaton to transform when adjacent to them.

    • Dragons such as Nowi, Fae, Legendary Robin, Myrrh, Kana, and Female Corrin also allow Keaton to transform when adjacent.

  • Refreshers: In addition to the aforementioned Herons, Reyson and Leanne, refreshers such as Legendary Azura, YT-Olivia, HS-Micaiah, Sylvia, Lene, and Ninian are among many great choices that provide Keaton with fantastic support through an extra turn, allowing him to get into more favorable positions.

  • Magically Bulky: Micaiah, Winter Fae, Deirdre, Halloween Henry, and Sheena are all strong allies, as they can tank magical hits while keeping Keaton safe.

  • Strong Greens: Hector, Surtr, GD-Greil, Lewyn, Nino, Fallen Male Robin, and Brave Ephraim can all perform well in checking both physical and magical blues that may pose a threat to Keaton.

Counters

  • Magical Damage Dealers: Strong magical attackers such as Reinhardt, Ophelia, Legendary Tiki, Micaiah, Ishtar, Tailtiu, Lilina, and Celica can all make short work of Keaton’s sparse magical bulk.

  • Physically Bulky Blues: Brave Hector, Winter Ephraim, Fallen Hardin, Nowi, and Lukas can all mitigate the amount of damage that Keaton is able to do thanks to their high physical bulk and weapon triangle advantage.
