Boon
-
+SPD: A Speed boon takes Innes from 34 Speed to 37 Speed. This gives him greater doubling potential as well as good security from double attacks. It works well with any setup for Innes, particularly a Firesweep build.
-
+ATK: An Attack boon takes Innes from 33 Attack to 36 Attack. This gives Innes a nice boost to his offensive prowess by allowing him to deal more damage. It also works very well when paired with a Brave Bow.
Neutral
-
HP: At 35, Innes has fairly poor HP. Even if you have an HP boon, Innes’ HP fails to even reach 40 when unmerged. An HP bane will hurt his magical tanking capability somewhat, but HP is otherwise an acceptable bane if no other option is available.
-
RES: Innes possesses 31 Resistance when neutral which is very good. It’s not great to the point where you would want it as a boon over Speed or Attack though. Try to keep his Resistance stat neutral if possible.
Bane
- -DEF: Defense is Innes’ weakest stat and is his best option for a bane. At 14, his Defense is so low to the point where reducing it through IVs will not hinder his performance significantly

A rather cheap set, but nevertheless effective. Thanks to his new weapon refinery options, Innes can now serve as a interesting anti-mage unit with effectiveness on both phases.
The main idea behind this build is to utilize Nidhogg’s sweep effect to safely attack mages and dragons on Player Phase, then utilize Nidhogg’s Owl effect for baiting mages on Enemy Phase. As such, Nidhogg will be refined for its unique effect. Either an Attack, Speed, or Resistance boon will work well, helping to increase either Innes’ offensive potential or magical bulk. A Defense bane will serve as the best option. The Assist slot is open to player choice. Draw Back is a typical choice for ranged units, but other options such as Reposition can also work. As for his Special, both Iceberg and Glacies allow Innes to boost his damage off of his high Resistance, while Moonbow is another good option thanks to its low cooldown.
For the A slot, Fury is a nice option as it’ll help Innes on both phases through the increase to stats, though caution is advised thanks to the recoil damage Innes will endure. A Bond skill such as Atk/Res Bond can also work very well thanks to the synergy with Nidhogg’s owl effect, thus boosting Innes’ capabilities on Enemy Phase. In the B slot, Quick Riposte ensures Innes is able to achieve a follow-up attack on Enemy Phase, useful considering the plentiful number of fast mages. His default Cancel Affinity is also a nice choice, helping Innes to not get caught by any mage running the Raven TA combination.
The C slot is open to player preference. With his high Resistance, Innes is a good candidate for Ploy skills, with any of them bar Res Ploy being useful for him. Distant Def makes for a solid Sacred Seal, helping Innes to defend against mages on enemy phase. A simple Speed +3 is also not a bad choice which helps Innes to obtain follow-up attacks while helping to avoid them. Much like with the C slot, he can also use a Ploy skill, potentially in conjunction with another Ploy already in the C slot.

With a Firesweep Bow, Innes is able to bypass one of his biggest weaknesses and serve as a powerful offensive archer.
Firesweep Bow prevents Innes’ opponent from countering him when he attacks. This is at the cost of Innes himself not being able to counter when he is attacked. This bow lets Innes bypass his weakness to Distant Counter users as they will no longer be able to counter and KO him. A Speed boon is ideal for this set to increase his doubling potential, but an Attack boon also works for some nice extra damage. The Assist slot is open for this set with pretty much anything being viable. Draw Back is a nice safe choice to allow Innes to help pull his teammates to safety when he is not needed to attack. Luna is a great Special for this set, cutting the enemies defenses in half, which is especially useful against high Defense opponents such as Zelgius. Iceberg also works as a budget alternative, but do note that using Life and Death with this Special will reduce its power due to its Resistance penalty.
Life and Death is the optimal A slot with the Firesweep Bow. Since Innes does not need to worry about counterattacks, Innes will not suffer from the lost defenses so long as you keep him out of the danger zone. If you do not want to deal with the lower defenses, Swift Sparrow can be used as an alternative. Fury is a nice budget option that boosts Innes across the board as well as improve the activation chance of skills such as Def Ploy. In the B slot, a Chill skill works great for helping him increase his performance by debuffing the enemies. Chill Def and Chill Spd are both solid choices in this regard. His default Cancel Affinity also works great, allowing Innes to attack and deal good damage to mages running the Raven and Triangle Adept combo. For the C slot, Atk Smoke allows Innes to debuff the opponents around his target for 7 Attack, severely hindering their damage output. Spd Smoke can also be used which has the same effect as Atk Smoke but debuffs Speed instead of Attack. If you are not running Life and Death, Def Ploy also serves as a potential option, helping to increase Innes’ damage potential.
The simple Speed +3 Sacred Seal works very well here, giving Innes a nice boost to his already high doubling potential. An Attack +3 Seal also works well for a good damage bonus. If you are not running it in the C slot, the Atk Smoke Seal is also nice and allows Innes to potential debuff both the opponent’s Attack and Speed should he also be using Spd Smoke.

The Brave Bow is an exceptional weapon and Innes can certainly make great use of it.
The Brave Bow gives Innes a guaranteed follow-up attack after his first attack and will allow him to potentially perform four attacks should he naturally double. This makes Brave Bow a great choice for an offensive archer. You’ll want either an Attack or Speed boon to go along with this. Attack will boost Innes’ damage output considerably thanks to the guaranteed follow-up while Speed improves his chances of performing a quad-attack. Ardent Sacrifice makes for a great Assist as a single use of it will put Innes below 75% HP, allowing him to safely reach the HP threshold for Desperation. If you don’t plan on using Ardent Sacrifice, an Assist such as Draw Back or a Rally skill will serve you well. Luna will halve the opponent’s defenses, giving Innes a good boost to damage, particularly against high Defense foes. His default Special Iceberg also serves as a nice budget alternative thanks to his high Resistance.
Swift Sparrow is the ideal A slot, granting Innes a nice boost to his offensive stats when initiating combat. Life and Death serves as a good alternative which provides a slightly higher offensive boost, though at the cost of Innes’ defenses. Fury gives Innes a nice all-around boost and serves as a good budget option. Desperation in the B slot will allow Innes to perform any follow-up attack immediately, meaning should he perform a quad-attack and be within Desperation’s threshold, he will perform all four of his attacks before the enemy can even react. Both Def Ploy and Spd Ploy serve as great C slot options as he can activate both relatively well thanks to his high Resistance. Def Ploy will help with Innes’ damage output while Spd Ploy will help Innes to perform quad attacks. If Life and Death is being used, Ploy skills are not recommended due to Innes’ lower Resistance. In this case, the C slot is very open. Something that would benefit his allies such as a Hone or Fortify skill is a great option.
For the Sacred Seal, Attack +3 works very well, giving Innes a nice boost to his damage potential. Speed +3 also works nicely to give Innes more quadding potential. Def Ploy is also a good option if you’re not using it as the C slot.
Introduction
The prince of Frelia and Ephraim’s sworn rival, Innes joins the World of Heroes as a infantry archer. Possessing a refinable legendary weapon and great offensive stats, Innes serves as a powerful option for a colorless unit and can run a good variety of skills and weapons, making him a versatile archer.
With 33 Attack and 34 Speed, Innes a great offensive spread. With this, he stands alongside Brave Lyn and Bridal Cordelia as strong options for an offensive archer. Innes is not all about offensive combat though; he has a very good Resistance stat of 31, making him a great choice for combating mages. His very notable weakness however is his very poor Defense stat of 14, making it very difficult for him to fight Distant Counter users and Dragons with refined Breaths.
With the 2.10.0 update, Innes can now refine his personal bow, Nidhogg. Previously, this bow was identical in functionality to a typical Owl tome, granting an increase to all stats depending on how many allies are adjacent to him. This weapon retains this effect when refined, but can gain the new ability to prevent mages and dragons from countering him, effectively removing his Breath weakness when attacking.
All in all, Innes is an excellent archer and serves as a solid option for a colorless fighter. His great versatility means he can fit into many different team compositions and can be built effectively with many different skills, making him a solid unit for almost any player.
Strengths
Great Offensive Stats
With an Attack stat of 33 and a Speed stat of 34, Inness possesses a strong offensive spread, having identical Attack and only one Speed less than Brave Lyn. This makes him a great choice for an offensive archer, around the level of Bridal Cordelia who does possess better offensive capabilities, though not by much. Thanks to his great spread, Innes has many options when being built, including Brave Bow, Firesweep Bow, and his default Nidhogg.
Great Resistance
At 31, Innes has one of the highest Resistance stats for archers. He has the same Resistance as Faye with archers such as Niles and Halloween Jakob surpassing him. This makes Innes a great option for fighting mages as he is able to easily resist their attacks and deal good damage in return. He can also easily stand against Raven mages if you choose to run him with Cancel Affinity.
Nidhogg
The personal weapon of Innes, Nidhogg is identical in functionality to an Owl tome, giving him a boost in all stats except HP by the amount of adjacent allies times two. When refined, Nidhogg can gain the usual range of stat boosts, or can be refined to prevent counters from mages and dragons. While this in itself if a powerful effect, it lacks synergy with the Owl effect of Nidhogg. Still, it can make Innes into an interesting mixed phase mage fighter with surprisingly good results.
Weaknesses
Poor Defense
With a Defense stat of 14, Innes has the second lowest Defense stat in the entire game. Only Lucius and Delthea have less Defense than him, both of which have a Defense stat of 13. Innes is very susceptible to physical attacks and struggles to safely attack Distant Counter users such as Ike and Hector who can both OHKO him on their retaliation.
Poor HP
At 35 HP, Innes has the second lowest HP of all archers. Combined with his Defense stat, Innes has only 49 physical bulk which is poorer than units such as Nino, though Innes doesn’t need to worry about the Weapon Triangle like she does. His low HP also hinders his magical bulk somewhat, though Innes’ high Resistance does make up for this somewhat.
Team Options
Counters
-
Physical Distant Counter Users: Given his poor physical bulk, Innes struggles to effectively fight any physical unit who comes with Distant Counter given he can often be OHKO by many of the DC users. Black Knight, Zelgius, Legendary Ike, and any form of Hector can all OHKO Innes for example unless he’s running Fury or a Defense boon. Even then, Fury with neutral Defense will only save him from Black Knight while the others mentioned still OHKO Innes.
- Dragons with Refined Breaths: When refined, Breath weapons gain the ability to target the lower defensive stat of ranged units. Because of this, Dragons who carry refined breaths can avoid Innes’ high Resistance and prey on his low Defense instead. This makes units such as Adult Tiki, Nowi, Legendary Tiki, and Fallen Robin effective counters to Innes. While Innes can block counters from these units with his refined Nidhogg, he struggles to defeat any of them in a single turn, leaving him potentially vulnerable to them on enemy phase.

Build allowing Innes to deal massive damage after baiting an approach and getting the threaten effect on melee units or mages with high defense that survive the first assault. Surrounded by allies, even with the required positioning, Nidhogg effectively doubles most enemies in the game, although with a Hone Spd or Rally Speed use it's sometimes hardly even necessary. Desperation allows him to combat other dagger and bow users after a use of Ardent Sacrifice, ORKOing most while preserving HP necessary to combat more powerful mages like Celica or defensive mages like Robin. Preffered nature is +atk/-def. Also workable with +spd/-def. For +res, Glacies is more effective than Iceberg, allowing him to ORKO even some of armoured units with high defensive stats like Hector. Preferred Sacred Seal is Atk Ploy 1 to increase his survivability against mages even further.

Overall goal of this build is to bait enemy mages and eliminate them while taking minimum damage. Distant defense along with a +RES or +SPD nature allows innes to avoid almost any magical damage, and since most mages have very low defense he will have no problems killing them in retaliation. If available, consider Atk Ploy 1 Sacred seal for even better baits.

Reposition | B | Desperation 3 |

Glacies | C | Threaten Def 3 |
This set-up turns Innes into a glass canon who can also take quite a few magical attacks. That being said, by using Fortress Res 3, it decreases Atk -3 and increases Res +5. But Threaten Def 3 treats the enemy as though they have Def -5, so the Atk -3 is canceled out by the Def -5, so the final stat changes are Res +5 and Atk +2. By using Glacies, every 4 attacks, Innes will gain an added bonus to his attack by 80% of his res.
Reposition is the support skill, since it is good for moving a defensive tank between the incoming enemy and Innes (which is important due to his piss poor defense, that don't even reach above 17, even for a high defense IV).
If you can maneuver the team and keep Innes away from physical attackers, he can easily take out a majority of foes. For this set-up, either a +Atk or +Res IV is good. +Atk will allow for overall higher damage, but if you get a +Res, it allows for a strong sudden blow to an enemy.
