As a ranged flier, Hinoka wants to capitalize on her decent Speed and Attack at the expense of her Defenses.
Boons
- +ATK: Notable for her damage potential, particularly with a Brave Bow build, increasing her Attack is always a fair option.
- +SPD: This is Hinoka’s best boon for good reason: the more doubles she can reliably get, the better her damage potential is. Speed is very important when using her Warrior Princess bow, a Firesweep Bow, or even a Brave Bow.
Neutral
- DEF: Her Defense is poor, but as her high Speed can prevent her from being doubled, every point counts in keeping her alive. In addition, Defense is a superbane on her and taking a bane in it will drop her score in the Arena.
- RES: Hinoka’s Resistance is actually quite good and should be kept if you plan on having her duel mages. In addition, this is also a superbane and should be avoided to preserve arena scoring.
Banes
- -HP: Hinoka’s Speed is generally high enough that she won’t be double attacked, meaning that HP is safer to lose than either of her defensive stats. This is also the only defensive stat that isn’t a superbane, making it optimal for her to drop.

With the Firesweep Bow, Hinoka turns into a ruthless killer on the battlefield. Because she does not fear retaliation, she’s perfectly fine to dump all of her defensive stats in order to maximize her offensive potential and turn her into a fantastic Player Phase sweeper unit.
If not running Def Ploy in her C slot, then Life and Death should be taken over Atk/Spd Bond in her A slot to allow Hinoka more flexibility in the battlefield- since she isn’t taking any damage in combat when she initiates, she can afford to dump her Defense and Resistance, which will give her a constant +5/+5 to her Attack and Speed, regardless of her positioning near an ally. This frees her up to be able to dart across the battlefield for a quick kill on an enemy unit, regardless of where her team is.
If you can make the sacrifice of Def Ploy, then you want to keep her Resistance as high as possible to ensure that she can debuff her opponent as necessary. This allows her to reduce her opponent’s Speed and Defense through her B and C slot skills while keeping her own Speed and Attack high via Swift Sparrow in her A slot. This combination makes her extremely self sufficient on the battlefield and through this, you can maximize her full potential.
When it comes to B slot skills, Chill Spd is the obvious candidate, ensuring that Hinoka can double her opponent by debuffing the enemy on the map with the highest Speed. Chill Def may also be taken if you’re utilizing her C slot for Spd Ploy or a team buff, and Cancel Affinity allows her to be fully effective, even against mages built to bait and counter her.
For her C Slot, her 29 Resistance is on the borderline of what might be considered acceptable for Ploy skills, and so if taken they should be viewed as a bonus and not necessarily relied on, particularly against dragons and armor units with high mixed defenses. Alternatively, team buffs can be considered, particularly in the form of defensive team buffs (since Hinoka has no need for defensive buffs) or her native Flier Guidance to offer alternative movement.
Increasing her Speed is likely your best option with her Sacred Seal as well, in order to ensure maximum doubling ability- however, Quickened Pulse can be taken, particularly if you have Hone Fliers buff to give her, so that she can proc Moonbow on her first initiation.

When given the Warrior Princess bow and ability to buff her allies from two spaces away, Hinoka becomes capable of stacking Drive Spurs to offer her teammate a meaty +9 Attack to any ally. If she has a flying ally, this becomes +10 Attack and +4 Speed by equipping a Goad Fliers in her C slot instead of Drive Atk. This can be coupled with another unit with Hone Fliers to give a third flying unit +16 Attack and +10 Speed, which can turn the tides of a lot of battles, particularly on units that utilize Brave or Firesweep weapons.
Other than that, Hinoka can be utilized with a lot of her base kit. Flier Formation is a useful tool that increases her mobility if you can’t invest a more expensive B skill onto her, however Chill Def and Chill Spd both offer her team more support via crippling enemy debuffs.
Drive Atk and Goad Fliers (or Drive Atk or Drive Spd in her C slot) synergize very well with Warrior Princess and allows Hinoka to stack Spur buffs from 2 spaces away, without needing to begin her turn next to another unit. This gives her the opportunity to be an incredible support to Player Phase units in general, particularly units wielding Brave weapons, who can do an extra 18 damage per initiation (20 if using fliers) thanks to her buffs.
When it comes to her own combat capabilities, Hinoka is no slouch with her personal weapon, and she can easily utilize her native kit to be highly effective at combat in her own right. With a Speed IV, Hinoka hits 41 Speed with Warrior Princess equipped, which becomes 46 Speed when next to an ally- something that her Flier Formation skill can help her with. Her Attack rises to 51 under the same conditions, though she can utilize Swift Sparrow or Fury to be more self sufficient at the cost of a couple points from her offensive stats.

As with any unit with good offensive stats and access to a Brave weapon, one must take stock of whether they want to augment Attack or Speed in order to reach their fullest damage potential. Hinoka is no different with a natural offensive spread of 32/35, though her higher Speed generally lends itself better to quad attacks.
Through Speed stacking with the recommended build, Hinoka can reach a cap of 41 Speed with a Brave Bow equipped. Add in flier buffs if you like to increase her Speed even further, which enhances her ability to quad attack with a Luna proc on her fourth and final strike.
Despite her breathtaking Speed potential with this build, Hinoka only hits an Attack of 44. This means that against opponents with very high Defense, she may not do enough damage outside of her Luna proc. If you’re concerned about that, then there’s always the option of running her with a +ATK IV, Death Blow, Chill Def, and an Attack +3 seal (or any variation thereof) for an unbuffed Attack of 51 and a Speed of 35.
Flier Guidance is an intriguing option for a C slot that can help the mobility of your team, or she can buff your flier’s mixed defenses with Fortify Fliers, as she has little use for that buff on her own.
It’s very possible that Hinoka can be retaliated against if she can’t secure a KO in her first two hits. With that in mind, Desperation may be a better option for her this so that she can ensure that all four of her hits will land before her opponent has the option to counterattack. If this is taken over her native Flier Formation or the expensive Chill skills, then care has to be taken to allow her to enter the HP threshold range in the first place- likely by attacking a mage unit who will counterattack against her higher Resistance. Fury in her A slot can also assist with this, but it reduces her potential for Attack and Speed, which are too pivotal to her Brave Bow build to really be the best option for her.
Introduction
As the first bow flier unit in the game, Hinoka did not disappoint. Her stats are comparable to the infamous Brave Lyn, and though she lacks the Sacaen Lady’s third tile of movement, Hinoka excels on maps where there are forest, mountain, river, or trench tiles.
While she is undoubtedly a Player Phase unit, Hinoka’s stats are versatile enough to allow her to run any of the infamous bow sets all while being able to obtain flier emblem buffs to increase her lethality. In addition, her own legendary weapon and base kit is highly synergistic with a flier team, which is only befitting of the Pegasus Knight Captain of Hoshido.
Strengths
Utility
As the first bow flier unit, Hinoka has amazing utility simply in being an exclusive class.
She can wield Firesweep and Brave weapons from range, while being buffed by her own emblem team.
Her own legendary weapon also offers her remarkable synergy to her allies. She can Spur stack effectively all on her own from a 2 tile range, making her an extremely flexible support unit for your team.
Excellent Stats
With decent Attack and great Speed for her weapon type, Hinoka finds herself capable of being a very strong Player Phase unit no matter which weapon she has equipped.
Her slightly-above-average Resistance also enables her to duel mages, as well as proc Ploys against units with low Resistance.
Good Base Kit
Hinoka is plug and play if you don’t like expensive inheritance. Her default kit is extremely synergistic and offers both her and her teammates incredible mobility in a flier team.
She can be built to a high potential for very cheaply and retain effectiveness, particularly if you’re willing to part with the feathers required to give her a Brave Bow.
Weaknesses
Middling Attack
While it isn’t terrible, Hinoka is slightly held back due to her lower Attack stat, reducing her damage significantly in a quad Brave Bow set.
It is offset by her Speed, which often enables her to attack twice.
Still, in the age of Enemy Phase units with skills like Steady Breath, Hinoka may have difficulty puncturing her opponents Defense.
Poor Defense
Hinoka’s poor Defense doesn’t do her any favors when considering her bow weakness, and it’s a good idea to have her avoid other bow units altogether unless running a Firesweep set.
This also makes her very weak to Distant Counter units, who may kill her in a single hit on their retaliation if not careful.
Team Options
Counters
Hinoka’s low Defense and her inherent flier weaknesses means that she can be easily countered by the right team.
- DC Units: Strong DC units such as Zelgius, Effie, Xander, and Legendary Ike can all kill Hinoka easily upon retaliation.
- Dragons: Due to their ability to target her Defense, Hinoka is vulnerable to dragons, particularly those who can withstand a hit from her, like Nowi, Adult Tiki, and Myrrh.
- Flier Weaknesses: Bow units like Bridal Cordelia, Brave Lyn, and Leon are all dangerous, as is Merric, despite her high Resistance.

Hinoka is a good unit by herself and with guidance she can quickly get in position for a follow up, a save or a blitz. And she is also a great buffer, like Camilla, she can give a + 7 to attack and speed with a drive speed seal. Combine both of the girls and you can get a massive + 20 to attack and speed on any flyer. Make a power house bladetome or a quad queen elincia.

Warrior Princess is a great support weapon with its inbuilt Drive Attack, being effective against armors is just the icing on the cake.
Dual Rally for points, eventually an upgraded rally down the line.
Atk/Spd Bond is a great skill to boost attack and speed, I will eventually replace it with C Duel Flying when it comes out.
Windsweep is a great skill on Hinoka because she'll proc it against nearly everybody. Hitting a +10 Brave Hector for example and leaving 10-15 health left for your bonus unit is extremely handy.
Spur Def/Res to help boost an ally defenses.
Poison Strike seal to help reduce enemy life points leaving them easy prey for your bonus unit.

This Hinoka is built for the new babysitting meta in Arena. Sacrificing Hinoka's raw killing power in exchange for unrivaled utility lets Hinoka be an amazing unit for high-ish (read: tier 17-19) arena.
Weapon: Warrior Princess
Assist: Reposition
Special: Luna
A: Swift Sparrow 2
B: Windsweep 3
C: Drive Speed 2

Warrior Princess is a wonderful weapon. High might helps to patch up Hinoka's mediocre attack. Armor effectiveness gives Hinoka a strong punch against even the bulkiest of armor units, letting her plink threatening armors for big damage. Drive Attack 2 gives her some more utility, buffing the offense of nearby allies.
Reposition is the premier assist for fliers, letting Hinoka traverse non-flying allies over impassable terrain or out of danger.
Luna is her default special and is mostly preference. When she actually needs to get a kill on something to avoid losing your streak, Luna helps Hinoka punch through tough opponents.
Swift Sparrow is Hinoka's favorite A skill, boosting her crucial stats without sacrificing any bulk. The Attack boost helps with damage and the speed helps to proc the crux of this build:
Windsweep. Originally regarded as a useless skill, Hinoka uses it nicely. With her high speed and Armor effective weapon, she can strike enemies for severe but mostly non-lethal damage, and leave the kill open for your bonus unit. Her speed being so high also means she isn't required to use Phantom Speed, leaving her seal slot open for support seals.
Drive Speed 3 is again mostly preference, but also syncs up nicely with Warrior Princess' innate Drive Attack effect, giving nearby allies +3 Atk and +3 Spd.
Guidance is an incredible seal, helping normally immobile units like Armors and Infantry move around.
All in all Hinoka is a wonderful unit for arena offense runs, with unparalleled tools at her disposal to help your bonus unit secure wins and gain extra points.

One of my best pitybreakers and redheads is Flying Archer Hinoka. Her ivs are +res, -def, which I don’t think they’re bad cause higher res means she can tank mages better and her def is low anyway. This build makes it so that she can buff up to 12 atk.
For her weapon her default Warrior Princess is preferred. This weapon has multiple effects. It grants her extra 3 speed. It’s not only effective against other fliers, but it’s also effective against armored units, and it also has a drive atk effect.
For the assist skill i’m going for reposition. It is rather useful on fliers as it can get some non flying units pass terrain they can’t normally pass or even reach
For her special I prefer her default luna as it allows her to pierce through high def enemies. Even though she’ll be dealing bonus damage to armored units, against non armored high def enemies it can be quite useful.
For her A skill I went for fury. It can be pretty good on her.
For her B skill i’m thinking of desperation to allow her do a immediate follow up attack. Sure she’ll be doing bonus damage to armored units, but it can be problematic if the armored unit is able to live Hinoka’s attack because some armored units carry distant counter and since Hinoka is very squishy to physical attacks (especially when she’s -def), it’s most likely she does not want to get counterattacked by them. Desperation will ensure that she will double them so that she can avoid the risk of being counterattacked.
For the C skill I went for atk tactic. I got me a 4* Legault so I sacked him to Hinoka. With atk tactic, drive atk seal, and her weapon’s built in drive atk effect, she can pretty much become a atk buffbot. 6 from atk tactic + 3 from drive atk seal + 3 more from Warrior princess = 12 atk. This make it so that units can possibly hit harder. The main flaw with atk tactic is that it can be either very hard or impossible to activate on modes such as rival domains and grand conquest cause on them modes you team up with 8 units instead of the usual 4. This can be hard especially when you need more of a specific movie type for bonus scoring. Though outside of them modes it’s still pretty useful if you know how to create mixed teams
In conclusion Flying Archer Hinoka can function pretty good as a super atk buffbot. 12 atk can be useful for someone like Reinhardt or a low atk unit like Selena, Henry, etc.

While the SPD bane hurt Hinoka's offense slightly, the ATK boon helps to punch through more effectively. Kept the majority of her base kit beyond adding Reposition (as the standard Assist skill for Fliers). Her Sacred Seal is flexible; typically she has SPD +3 to patch her SPD bane or Threaten SPD in order to make it easier for her to double.
