+Attack is the top priority nature for most Sakura builds since it synergizes the best with her two popular options: Kitty Paddle for anti-mages, and Poison Dagger for anti-infantry purposes.

Aside from +Attack, a +Speed boon is good for mage-bait builds as it helps her avoid being doubled. A +Resistance boon is also usable since it helps against high damaging threats like Reinhardt or Raven Tome users.

A -Defense bane is preferred as it is her weakest stat.

Sakura can be a great mage bait with her base kit and some tweaks. Kitty Paddle is essential for this build as it allows her to deal significant damage to mages.

Glacies or Iceberg is self-explanatory, making use of her great Resistance stat. Since most of Halloween Sakura's intended targets don't have high defense and Kitty Paddle has low might, other specials like Luna aren't particularly amazing on her.

For her A slot, Atk/Res Bond provides her with two important stats (for fighting mages) when she is near an ally, making it a perfect skill for baiting purposes. It can also be taken advantage of in the player phase like Death Blow, but requires her teammates' positioning beforehand. Warding Stance is Sakura's native passive and provides a great amount of resistance in the player phase while not depending on positioning, but unlike the former option, this one only provides resistance.

Her best B slot option is Cancel Affinity for coverage, as it allows her to handle Raven Tome users with Triangle Adept better. Guard is amazing against Reinhardt, since most Reinhardt variants run the Quickened Pulse and Moonbow combo. Otherwise, Quick Riposte or Vantage are both good options for Sakura. QR allows her to one-round any non-raven mage assuming she avoids being doubled thus increase her reliability, while Vantage allows her to bait multiple squishy mages after her initial round of combat.

With her excellent resistance, Sakura is a great user of the Ploy skills. Of these, both Attack Ploy and Defense Ploy have amazing synergy with this set, allowing her to either reduce the chances of being one-shotted by mages, or improve her damage output against them. The Smoke variants are also a good choice, since, with her bulk against magical attacks, her application of said debuff to a group of enemies is quite safe.

For Sacred Seals, Distant Def or Attack Ploy are both no-brainers, augmenting her magical bulk greatly. Deflect Magic should only be taken to counter Dire Thunder users (Olwen and Reinhardt) if your team struggles against them.

  • Boon / Bane: +Attack, +Speed / -Defense

Sakura makes do as a good offensive unit thanks to her 32/34 offensive stat spread. Though her coverage is limited (either for mages with Kitty Paddle or infantry with Poison Dagger), she is quite good at the job and can make for a pretty competent Arena Assault unit when called upon.

For maximum power upon initiation, Death Blow is the best choice for most Dagger units. Swift Sparrow and Life & Death can be alternatives depending on her B slot.

Fury makes for a great combination with Desperation, especially if players decide to go with the Brash Assault seal on her. However, this combo relies a lot on Sakura not getting killed by counterattacks, so be cautious of your opponents.

Cancel Affinity and Desperation are picked for obvious reasons. Aside from these two, the two Sweep skills are good alternatives, sacrificing her ability to double for safer nuking while synergizing especially well. with the Smoke variants. If Sakura is using the Poison Dagger, Windsweep is better preferred, seeing how many infantry units pack Distant Counter, while Watersweep is better with Kitty Paddle due to most of her targets being mages. If players choose to go with Sweep skills, do remember to give Sakura the Phantom Speed seal.

If players are not a fan of the Smoke skills, Sakura is quite potent with Defense Ploy since it boosts her offensive prowess significantly when it triggers. Although, it is not advisable to use Defense Ploy with Life and Death because the latter reduces Sakura's resistance, which Ploy skills are reliant on.

Introduction

Halloween Sakura is an exclusive 5 star Dagger user with min-maxed stats. She excels as a mage killer thanks to her resistance and speed, while being capable of dealing a lot of damage to them thanks to her decent attack.

Taking a glance at H!Sakura's stats, we can see she should be compared to Felicia and Kagero, both of which are more accessible.

Felicia is a specialist in anti-mage tactics with her enormous resistance and speed. Compared to her, Sakura has a much better offensive presence thanks to a whopping 9 point difference in attack, which is significant when considering the way weapons like Poison Dagger / Kitty Paddle work, all at the expense of 3 points in speed and 1 point in resistance.

On the other hand, Kagero is hands down better in terms of one-shot potential thanks to her high attack. With opponent's phase builds which rely baiting, Sakura is the better choice thanks to her superior resistance and speed. All three are terrible at tanking physical attacks regardless and should not be taking that kind of damage in any way.

Overall, Sakura is a good Dagger user. She works well as a specialized threat against mage-centric teams, but falls off against anything else. The Gentle Nekomata suffers the same problem every other Dagger unit encounters: The whole class lacks the firepower other classes possess, and needs to rely on weapons which specialize on certain targets to be useful, which reduces them to nothing but Arena Assault picks to counter specific units rather than being part of a good Arena core able to face off any team.

Strengths
  • Good offensive stat spread
    • Though not on the level of Kagero's 35/32, a stat spread of 32/34 is a lot better than most Dagger units, making her the second best offensive Dagger user in the game.
  • High resistance
    • With only 1 point less than Felicia, Sakura makes for a great anti-mage, especially with her good speed.
  • Good starting base kit
    • Though not exactly optimal, Sakura has a good base kit to work with and does not require much investment to do her job.
  • Way too adorable for her own good
    • Just look at her, she's wonderful!
Weaknesses
  • Poor physical bulk
    • Sakura has the lowest defense of all Dagger users with an equally terrible HP stat, making her extremely allergic to physical damage.
  • Suffers from over-specialization
    • Similar to most of her dagger-wielding friends, Sakura is too specialized for her job.
    • She either works to deal with mages or infantry (or both), which causes her to lose power against other type of units.
    • This hurts her viability for an Arena core, which generally prefers heroes who can face multiple types of enemies.
Team Options
  • Sakura doesn't really have teammates who cater her specifically, but units who can improve her offense like Brave Lucina are immensely useful. Other strong support units like Performing Azura or Ephraim/Eirika are equally great options to put alongisde Sakura.
  • Sakura will struggle against most units who deal physical damage. Her teammates should be able to handle strong physical threats in the meta, making Dragonstone users or mages both good allies to have, as well as physically bulky heroes.
Counters
  • Sakura struggles greatly against physically tanky units with Distant Counter, especially those who don't receive any bonus damage from both the Kitty Paddle and Poison Dagger. Those units include, but are not limited to Hector, Xander, the Black Knight, or Camus.
    • On that same note, most physical units with good attack can kill her in one hit due to her terrible physical tolerance.
  • Popular Raven Tome users with physical bulk or good attack can also counter Sakura quite well, such as Sanaki, Lilina, or Boey. However, most of the popular Raven Tome users do carry Triangle Adept, which expose them to Cancel Affinity - an option that Halloween Sakura can run quite well if she so choose. It is worth nothing that Raven Tome users with different A slot skills like Distant Defense, Steady Stance or Earth Boost are not affected by Cancel Affinity.
