IV Sets

Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.
HPATKSPDDEFRES

Assets

  • +ATK: L’Arachel is an offensive unit who needs all the Attack she can get to punch through her foes.

  • +SPD: Base 34 Speed is fast, but L’Arachel still needs all the Speed she can get to secure follow-up attacks.

Neutral

  • HP: HP should be kept neutral, as a flaw will reduce it by four. L’Arachel is unlikely to survive more than one hit, so HP gives her good defensive returns.

  • RES: At base 20, L’Arachel’s Resistance is poor, and is not worth further investment. Of note, a flaw here will reduce Resistance by four, which is the only reason it should be kept neutral.

Flaws

  • -DEF: Base 22 Defense is too low to be used effectively. Generally speaking, L’Arachel is much better off investing into her offenses.

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred Asset/Flaw: +ATK or +SPD / -DEF

  • Attack is the better general option, but ultimately Speed is the best choice, helping L’Arachel win more Speed ties and get more follow-up attacks. Speed is a much safer choice of asset, but both Attack and Speed are good options.

Weapon: Madness Flask+ (+Spd) / Madness Flask+ (+Res)

  • L’Arachel’s natural weapon is great for her, giving some Attack, substantial Speed, and some Defense and Resistance. This set gets L’Arachel up to 33 effective Defense and 27 Resistance when attacking.

  • A Resistance refine is also an option, rounding her Resistance up to 30. This isn’t enough to take serious hits from offensive mages, but will make it easier to survive counterattacks from dragons.

Assist: Draw Back / Reposition

  • L’Arachel is a good choice of unit to use movement assist skills, as she has more freedom of movement than most around the field. Ultimately, the choice is down to personal preference, but both Draw Back and Reposition are great choices.

Special: Moonbow / Glimmer

  • As she won’t be engaged into sustained conflicts, fast-charging Specials are best for L’Arachel. Moonbow scales well on targets she has difficult with, making it more desirable than Glimmer.

Passive A: Fury / Swift Sparrow

  • Fury is recommended for its synergy with Madness Flask, giving L’Arachel a major boost to her bulk. This makes it much easier for her to eat counterattacks, in turn making her much more fearless when attacking.

  • Swift Sparrow is the go-to offensive choice when L’Arachel is not worried about counterattacks, providing superior Attack and Speed.

Passive B: Guard / Chill Res / Escape Route

  • Guard prevents foes from charging strong Specials to counterattack with, and is great for hampering Special Fighter/Breath skill users.

  • Chill Res is L’Arachel’s offensive option, and will often target the foe L’Arachel finds the most difficult to KO.

  • Escape Route makes use of the self-damage from Fury and Madness Flask, which get L’Arachel under 50% HP in two rounds of combat. This is a great choice when using L’Arachel on a defense team, as it will make her AI movements much harder to predict.

Passive C: Pulse Smoke / Panic Smoke / Attack Smoke

  • Smoke skills are perfect for L’Arachel, who will often be the first to initiate combat onto a group of enemies. Pulse Smoke is recommended, especially in Aether Raids, and it means that L’Arachel is less reliant on Guard.

  • Panic Smoke is a great general choice, and allows her to act as a replacement for other debuffers since it lacks a HP requirement.

  • Attack Smoke is a nice budget choice for Aether Raid offense.

Seal: Sturdy Blow

  • Sturdy Blow gives L’Arachel the perfect mix of stats, boosting her Attack and allowing her to survive more counterattacks.

  • This slot is very flexible, and can be replaced with a buff or chill depending on team composition.

Divine Retribution (Blade Offense)

Gronnblade+ A Swift Sparrow 3
Alternate: Life and Death 3
Draw Back
Alternate: Reposition
B Chill Res 3
Alternate: Chill Spd 3
Glimmer
Alternate: Draconic Aura
C Pulse Smoke 3
Alternate: Panic Smoke 3
SP2145SSturdy Blow 2
Alternate: Heavy Blade 3

Show Explanation/Analysis

Preferred Asset/Flaw: +ATK or +SPD / -DEF

  • This set has tons of Attack, so Speed is more important for L’Arachel. Attack is still a very good secondary choice, and may be better depending on what buffs L’Arachel receives.

Weapon: Gronnblade+

  • No refines, no mercy. The Gronnblade gives L’Arachel incredible offensive power, but delays her Special trigger. This is a worthy trade, as she’ll be able to OHKO or 2HKO almost all enemies with this set.

Assist: Draw Back / Reposition

  • L’Arachel is a good choice of unit to use movement assist skills, as she has more freedom of movement than most around the field. Ultimately, the choice is down to personal preference, but both Draw Back and Reposition are great choices.

Special: Glimmer / Draconic Aura

  • Glimmer scales extremely hard from L’Arachel’s boosted Attack, and has a short cooldown compared to other Specials.

  • Draconic Aura is longer but stronger, requiring more rounds of combat to trigger. It’s a great Special to pair with Heavy Blade as a seal.

Passive A: Swift Sparrow / Life and Death

  • Swift Sparrow is the go-to offensive choice when L’Arachel is not worried about counterattacks, providing superior Attack and Speed.

  • Life and Death is cheaper, but has the unfortunate effect of weakening L’Arachel’s defenses. This isn’t a huge issue, but even still, it provides a lesser boost than Swift Sparrow.

Passive B: Chill Res / Chill Spd

  • Chill Res is L’Arachel’s offensive option, and will often target the foe L’Arachel finds the most difficult to KO. This makes it the superior choice, and it will turn many of her 2HKO’s into OHKO’s.

  • Chill Spd can be taken if L’Arachel has an Attack asset or otherwise finds herself tied or outsped against faster foes.

Seal: Sturdy Blow / Heavy Blade / Chill Spd

  • Sturdy Blow gives L’Arachel the perfect mix of stats, boosting her Attack and allowing her to survive more counterattacks.

  • Heavy Blade offsets her Gronnblade’s Special deceleration. It should be used with Draconic Aura, as using it with Glimmer unfortunately wastes Special charge.

  • Chill Spd can be used here, and it’s a great option to hamper Speedy foes who can prevent L’Arachel from getting follow-up attacks.

Introduction

Everybody’s favorite divine intervener L’Arachel returns to the game in Halloween form! She is a green mage cavalier, and with her “monstrous” Attack and Speed, is an offensive force to be reckoned with.

L’Arachel joins a growing list of green mage cavaliers, and stands near the top of her class thanks to her excellent base 36 Attack and 34 Speed. She combines great offenses with extra movement: Most mages with her offensive stats are infantry, and can’t threaten as much area as she can.

While she is threatening, particularly on defense teams: the good news for L’Arachel ends there. Lack of a personal weapon leaves her without a specialised role within offense, and she can’t charge up instant Specials like other mages. Even with her threatening range and great stats, she lacks the impact that top-tier mages have.

Strengths

Excellent Attack and Speed.

36 Base Attack and 34 Base Speed form the basis of L’Arachel’s offensive prowess. She is capable of running a Speed-boosting set or going for OHKO’s with a Blade tome. And while she is frail, L’Arachel’s Speed ensures she will almost never suffer follow-up Attacks.

Benefits greatly from Cavalier movement.

L’Arachel is made more deadly by the fact she is a mage cavalier. This allows her to initiate attacks against foes within a whopping five spaces, allowing her to almost always guarantee the first strike. L’Arachel is a menace on defense, and can become even deadlier with a refresher as her ally.

Weaknesses

Poor defensive stats.

With just 22 base Defense and 20 base Resistance, L’Arachel is prone to OHKO’s through retaliation from enemies with Distant Counter. Although she has some ways to counter this, she remains vulnerable to strong counterattacks. Her HP isn’t high enough to avoid common Sudden Panic users such as Aversa or Virion.

Struggles to find a useful niche.

Lack of a personal weapon means that L’Arachel’s value really comes down to her stats. Cavaliers cannot inherit many powerful skills utilized by offensive units, such as Special Spiral and Null Follow-Up. This effectively shoehorns her into just a few roles, and while she is proficient in them, she lacks versatility.
