Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

  • A +Resistance boon will strengthen Florina's specialty as a magical soaker, as well as the thresholds for resistance-based skills.

  • If you use Fury, a +Attack boon can turn Florina's attack into something worthwhile.

  • +Speed can aid her in denying the enemy's follow-ups, though 31 speed still asks to be increased via Hone Speed or Flier buffs.

  • Maybe you think that Florina's HP is a bit too high for your liking. In that case, a -HP bane gives her some leeway for a boon without destroying her "average statline".

    • Florina's soaking potential goes from 67 physical & 76 magical to 64 physical & 73 magical, both still quite good.
  • A -Defense bane brings her physical soak potential from 67 to 64, which is still quite high. Though she receives more damage from follow-ups (which aren't a stranger to Florina), giving her more risk when facing off fast Sword units.

  • Preferred Nature: +Resistance / -Defense
  • Weapon: Berkut's Lance+
  • Assist: Draw Back / Flexible

  • B Slot: Quick Riposte / Lancebreaker
  • C Slot: Panic Ploy / Attack Ploy / Defense Ploy / Up to player
  • Sacred Seal: Attack Ploy

Florina has good resistance. Let's make use of it!

Iceberg will obviously be her special skill.

Distant Counter will allow Florina to deal with those pesky mages on counter-attack, and with the help of Berkut's Lance and a +Resistance boon, she achieves a total of 41 resistance. It will be very hard for any magical unit to kill her now, despite her low speed.

Quick Riposte, while also synergizing quite well with Distant Counter, also allows her to deal with red units in one go. This skill seals the deal, and refuses to let any speedy red unit leave her sight alive. You need attack similar to Effie if you want to one-hit kill an advantage match-up, after all.

Lancebreaker can however be used instead, allowing Florina to defeat any such wielder.

As for the C slot, Panic Ploy can let you deal with themed teams much easier, and doesn't rely on your own team to be used! Attack Ploy (and its Sacred Seal) and Defense Ploy are also good choices for the C slot, taking advantage of the Lovely Flier's resistance. Otherwise, just use a Flier buff. It's whatever.

This build aims to be attacked by mages while also supporting her team via Ploys. It's time to use that Berkut and Valter in your barracks, is it not?

Gentle Jewelry (Triangle Adept)
Sapphire Lance+ A Distant Counter

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Attack / -HP
  • Weapon: Sapphire Lance+
  • Assist: Reposition / Flexible
  • Special: Iceberg
  • A Slot: Fury / Distant Counter
  • B Slot: Lancebreaker / Blue Tomebreaker
  • C Slot: Goad Fliers / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: Attack Ploy

Florina's resistance may be fantastic, but her defense isn't terrible. That makes her a great candidate for Triangle Adept, rarely taking a single point of damage from Red Mages, and Sword units barely denting her.

Due to the multiplicative nature of the Triangle Advantage, a +Attack IV is preferred, and a -HP bane is taken to avoid tampering with her defenses.

Just like before, Iceberg is her preferred Special Skill.

Now, the choice between Distant Counter and Fury. Fury allows Florina to hard-counter Red units even harder (as well as bumping her attack up to 35), though Distant Counter allows her to immediately deal with mages. It is all up to the player's priority.

Lancebreaker and Blue Tomebreaker depend on what the player deems more of a risk to face, as well as synergizing with the Triangle Adept effect to cover a wide variety of enemies.

The rest of the skills? All up to the player.

  • Special: Iceberg
  • A Slot: Close Defense
  • B Slot: Lancebreaker
  • C Slot: Defense Ploy / Attack Ploy / Up to player
  • Sacred Seal: Attack Ploy

Now, this.. this is a slightly different build from others.

A +Speed boon is actually used, though mainly for avoiding follow-ups.

As for what's different from other builds on this page. The Slaying Lance and Close Defense.

The idea of this set is to utilize the Slaying Lance's good might and effect to not only give Florina a good amount of attack, but to activate Iceberg as often as possible.

Close Defense, on the other hand, is used for two reasons. The first so Florina can shrug off melee attacks, her main "weakness", as well as taking absolutely nothing from Dragons. The second reason is to power up Iceberg. That's it, really! In the case that her special skill is active, Florina will not only take little damage, but her attacks will be much more powerful. Quite a deal, eh?

Now, we just hope IS releases characters with Close Defense.. whom aren't limited.

  • Great candidate for Triangle Adept
  • Great magical soak
  • Lovely like a stuffed animal
  • Probably Hector's wife

  • No outstanding stat aside from resistance and HP
  • Very expensive to build
  • Low-ish speed
  • Outclassed by other fliers

Florina, the Lovely Flier, is a Pegasus Knight with a statline that could only be called a "unfortunate."

The lass is a strange case, because her resistance is quite good, but the distribution of all other stats can be blamed on her HP being a tid bit too high. She works quite nicely as a Ploy user, however!

Her speed is at a very strange gray area. It is a very rare case that she will follow-up in the majority of your matches, but it is fortunately high enough to avoid being potentially doubled by the "I know this unit is slow!" heroes, such as Xander and Hector.

Florina's physical dueling capabilities are, for lack of a better term, extremely average. 30 Attack is "okay" for any unit, and 25 defense is extremely average if you believe that Eliwood is physically weak, and Sophia can take a hit from melee units.

But, what then, does Florina have over other Lance Fliers that they don't?

Well, she wields the highest resistance of all of them. That's a great starting point. What next? She also has higher attack than Clair. Okay, one more! She actually has the highest HP stat in her category. That may either be extremely interesting or very depressing, causing you to curse Intelligent Systems for ruining her potential.

What can you take from this information? Simple. When the majority of the heroes being added to the game have an HP stat of 38~ points or lower, you can rest assured that skills which benefit off the user's HP being higher will activate quite often. That, and Ploys!

In conclusion, the Lovely Flier can be considered one of the worser Fliers out there. However, her lack of a weak point (if you can call 27 speed that) makes her an interesting unit to look at, and her two strengths can be fun to play with. Expensive, though.

So, should you use Florina? Absolutely not. Don't do it. She's way too expensive to build. Lest you love the character or are willing to experiment, then go for it!

  • Good magical soak
    • A neutral magical hit will require 76 attack to one-hit kill her.
    • As for double attacks (which are to be expected), they will require 55 neutral, 46 advantage or 69 disadvantage attack.
    • Her resistance of 34 allows her to utilize Ploys quite efficiently.
  • Bad speed
    • If ever you find a hero you consider "fast" in the arena (Saber, Ogma, Nephenee), expect them to double Florina.
    • At the very least, 27 speed is enough to avoid being doubled by the slower units, such as Brave Ike.
Team Options

Being a flier, Florina will fit in nicely with her fellow Pegasus Knights. Her average stats become "quite good", allowing her to become a great unit without venturing into overkill territory.

Otherwise, if splashed into whatever team you so desire, Florina plays the role of a "magical tank". Be cautious however, as she is easily doubled by mages, and otherwise requires Distant Counter to avoid the follow-up (Death prevents the follow-up, do you not agree?).

There is also her defense to consider. It may be tough for her to deal with other Lance users (and even Sword users), so greens and reds with decent defense (or specified Breaker skills) will allow you to cover a nice range of heroes.

Red units such as:

Green units such as the very one she is afraid of dueling:

And so on, so forth.

Her status as a Flier also makes Reposition a must for one of your units (who aren't Florina) to have, as it will almost always work when used on her.

Excluding the obvious counters (green units and bow users), Florina's speed and O.K. physical defense will cause her to be beaten by even those she has a color advantage over, such as:

Aside from every fast lance unit such as Brave Lucina or Camus, Florina will most likely fall to the blue mages she doesn't kill, again, because of her speed:

Funnily enough, most lance units are either fast enough to double Florina, or wield incredible attack but low speed.
