IV Sets

Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

  • +SPD: Improves Elise’s ability to land doubles on enemies; this is key for Dazzling/Wrathful Staff builds to maximize her damage output.

  • +ATK: This simultaneously improves raw damage and healing output, making it the boon of choice for full support setups.

  • RES: A boon here can be useful for tanking mages in a pinch as well as increasing the chances of landing Ploys, but it generally falls short of a +ATK or +SPD boon. A bane is not recommended to avoid damaging her good magical bulk.

  • HP: Elise sports the lowest HP in the game; a bane is not recommended to avoid damaging her magical bulk, though it can easily be fixed with buffs.

  • -DEF: At neutral, Elise has 19 physical bulk; reducing this to 16 will have next to no impact on any of her matchups. Keep her away from physical damage threats at all costs.

The Drill That Will Pierce the Heavens (Offensive Support)

Dazzling Pain+
Alternate: Dazzling Gravity+
A Atk/Spd 2
Alternate: Speed +3
Recover+ B Wrathful Staff 3
Miracle C Savage Blow 3
SP1200SSavage Blow 3

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred IV: +SPD or +ATK / -DEF
  • Weapon: Dazzling Pain+ / Dazzling Gravity+
  • Assist: Recover+
  • Special: Miracle
  • Passive A: Atk/Spd 2 / Attack +3 / Speed +3
  • Passive B: Wrathful Staff
  • Passive C: Savage Blow / Hone Cavalry / Spd Ploy
  • Sacred Seal: Savage Blow / Res Ploy / Speed +3 / Attack +3

This set aims to maximize Elise’s potential, by making the most out of her mobility and offensive stats. The key component is the Dazzling/Wrathful Staff combo, which effectively turns Elise into a ranged, magical Firesweep user. This easily circumvents Elise’s issues with her physical bulk, and allows her to freely attack the enemy without ever having to worry about their counterattacks. There is no difference between running Wrathful Staff as a B skill and a Dazzling Staff refined weapon or vice versa, so the choice is fully dependent on the availability of either Genny or Bridal Lyn for Skill Inheritance.

The choice of weapon, Assist, and Special is mostly up to preference. Pain+ combos exceptionally well with double Savage Blow (C skill and seal), as it results in the enemy team taking a massive 24 points of damage, in addition to whatever damage Elise dealt to her target (+10 more from Pain+). This area damage will easily knock units out of high HP threshold skills such as Quick Riposte and Guard, or even unique weapons like Celica’s Ragnarok or Alm’s refined Falchion. Alternatively, Elise’s base Gravity+ can completely lock down entire teams; if she can get support in the form of a movement assist or Dance/Sing, then she can do this repeatedly with no chance of retaliation.

Atk/Spd 2 gives Elise the most offensive stats possible without hindering her potential. Atk/Spd Bond and Brazen Atk/Spd give significantly more offensive stats in theory, but can be very difficult to use given Elise’s high mobility and this build’s intended playstyle. Attack +3 and Speed +3 are good budget options for simple stat boosts.

Savage Blow for both the C skill and Sacred Seal works very well if running Pain+, but can be replaced for other skills for more utility. A cavalry buff like Hone Cavalry works well since Elise works best in a full cavalry team, while Spd Ploy and the Res Ploy seal combo well to allow Elise to provide more team support while also improving her own offensive capabilities. Finally, the Speed +3 and Attack +3 seals are both good options to improve her offenses further.

Precious Cinnamon Roll (Full Support)

Dazzling Gravity+ A Attack/Res 2
Alternate: Attack +3
Recover+ B Wings of Mercy 3
Alternate: Live to Serve 3
Miracle C Spd Ploy 3
SP1260SAtk Ploy 3

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred IV: +ATK or +RES / -DEF
  • Weapon: Dazzling Gravity+
  • Assist: Recover+
  • Special: Miracle
  • Passive A: Atk/Res 2 / Attack +3 / Resistance +3
  • Passive B: Wings of Mercy / Live to Serve
  • Passive C: Spd Ploy / Hone Cavalry / Varies with Team
  • Sacred Seal: Atk Ploy / Attack +3

As this is a fully support-oriented set, the IVs don’t make a huge difference. For the sake of optimization, however, +ATK will improve Elise’s damage and healing while +RES will improve her ability to land Ploys.

The chosen weapon is entirely up to preference, but Elise’s base Gravity+ is fantastic for taking advantage of her mobility. Regardless of choice, the Dazzling Staff refine is the best choice just to keep Elise safe whenever she attacks to apply the chosen debuff.

Atk/Res 2 is chosen to give a boost to Elise’s healing and ability to land Ploys, while also granting a slight boost to damage. Any of the various Bond skills can also work; the ones that boost Attack work best to boost healing and damage, but keep in mind that the other stats are mostly wasted on this set due to the full support setup. Attack +3 and Resistance +3 are good budget options as well.

Wings of Mercy grants Elise a big boost in mobility, allowing her to teleport directly next to allies that need healing the most. Alternatively, her base Live to Serve gives her fantastic self-healing and sustain, allowing her to not be afraid to tank enemy mages in a pinch.

Elise’s C skill and Sacred Seal are mostly up to preference. Spd Ploy and Atk Ploy seal make great use of Elise’s good Resistance stat, allowing her to provide more team support than simply healing and occasionally applying debuffs. These are easily interchangeable with any other Ploys, buffs like Hone Cavalry or simple stat boosts like an Attack +3 seal.

As a cavalry unit, Elise enjoys superior mobility compared to the majority of the other healers. She also has the benefit of access to powerful cavalry buffs, and even sports arguably the strongest offensive stat spread amongst the healers. With the introduction of weapon refining, Elise can now run an incredibly powerful set: the Dazzling/Wrathful Staff combo. This set effectively turns her into a ranged, magical Firesweep user, except that she can still retaliate when attacked.

Unfortunately, these perks come with a number of downsides. Healers have awful skill availability, as they are completely locked out of potent skills like Fury and offensive Specials like Iceberg. As a cavalry unit, Elise has to further contend with suffering a weakness to anti-cavalry weapons and getting blocked by forests and trenches.

Luckily, these annoyances can mostly be circumvented with smart play. While Elise’s lack of potent skills does put a significant damper on her potential, her access to the powerful Dazzling/Wrathful Staff combination can make her a dangerous threat. Add in her excellent cavalry mobility and strong offensive spread, and Elise is a powerful unit that demonstrates why healers should no longer be underestimated.

Dazzling/Wrathful Staff Combo

This set is unique to healers, and allows them to function as ranged, magical Firesweep users who can also counterattack when attacked. Elise makes exceptionally good use of this due to her mobility and offensive stats.

Decent Offenses

While 32/32 might be considered only decent amongst other units, it is still arguably the strongest offensive stat spread amongst healers. Elise’s access to cavalry buffs increases her offensive advantage further.

As a cavalry unit, Elise enjoys superior mobility as well as access to powerful buffs like Hone Cavalry.

Good Resistance

Elise has enough Resistance to not only be able to safely tank a hit from a mage, but also to make effective use of Ploys to provide additional team support.

Poor Skill Availability

Elise’s status as a healer locks her out of a huge number of strong skills. Furthermore, the skills she wants to create her best builds (such as Wrathful Staff and Atk/Spd 2) are very difficult to come by.

Anti-Cavalry Weapons

As a cavalry unit, Elise shares a weakness to anti-cavalry weapons. They will completely obliterate her, particularly the ones that deal physical damage.

Horrible Physical Bulk

With 49 physical bulk at neutral, Elise is easily one of the most frail units in the game. She needs to stay far, far away from physical threats, though she can freely poke them on Player Phase with a Dazzling/Wrathful Staff set.

Team Options

  • Cavalry: One of Elise’s biggest advantages over infantry healers is her ability to receive potent buffs like Hone Cavalry, making allies like Xander, Reinhardt, and Cecilia all excellent teammates.

    • Cavalry allies are also important because they can keep up with Elise’s mobility, allowing them to easily use movement Assists to get her out of danger after she attacks.

  • Refreshers: One of the downsides to the Dazzling/Wrathful Staff combo is that while Elise can apply debuffs to entire teams, she can still be vulnerable to retaliation on Enemy Phase. Refreshers like Olivia, Azura, and Performing Azura can all help get Elise out of dangerous situations, or simply increase her versatility to do things like attack multiple times.

  • Tanks: Elise is exceptionally frail against physical damage, and even high-powered magic damage can potentially take her out (such as buffed Blade tomes). Tanky units like Eldigan, Camus, and Sheena can all help keep Elise safe while also benefiting from her healing.

  • Physical Damage: Elise’s awful physical bulk leads to basically every physical damage dealer being able to easily take her out, particularly if they can do so on their own turn. Some examples include Brave Lyn, Cherche, Eldigan, and Legendary Ephraim.

  • Anti-Cavalry Weapons: It is technically possible for Elise to survive physical damage with enough team support, but anti-cavalry weapon users completely eliminate that possibility. Common users include Gray, Mathilda, Effie, and Gerome.

  • Magic Tanks: While not a perfect check due to still being devastated by Elise’s debuffs, units with high magical bulk like Caeda, Fae, Micaiah, and Sheena can shrug off most of the damage from Elise’s attacks.
