Key stats worth increasing through nature if possible.
Complementary stats that matter, but not to the point of picking them over key stats for nature increase.
Relatively worthless stat that can safely be decreased through nature.

An Attack-increasing nature complements Effie's battle style the best because it allows her to secure many more OHKOs while improving her Brave Lance usage.
A Defense-increasing nature improves Effie's overall bulk and physical trades as well as increasing her Bonfire/Ignis damage.

A Speed-decreasing nature is the optimal stat to reduce due to the effect of Wary Fighter which is Effie's primary B-Passive.

Skill Sets
Original Effie (Silver Lance)
Silver Lance+ A Death Blow 3
Pivot B Wary Fighter 3
Bonfire C Threaten Atk 3

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Attack/ -Speed
  • Weapon: Silver Lance+
  • Support Skill: Pivot / Swap
  • Special: Bonfire
  • A Slot: Death Blow 3 / Distant Counter
  • B Slot: Wary Fighter 3
  • C Slot: Threaten Atk 3 / Threaten Def 3 / Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: HP +3

Effie utilizes her natural-borne skills quite well with Silver Lance producing the strongest, non-buffed, neutral attack in the game aided by Death Blow 3 and Bonfire for added damage. Wary Fighter 3 and Threaten Atk 3 work together to increase Effie's overall bulk while Pivot is used to improve her walking distance by up to 2 extra movement spaces. Threaten Def 3 can also be used to weaken the enemy's defense further before hitting them even harder. HP+3 seal is recommended in order to improve the longevity of Wary Fighter 3. Distant Counter can be used effectively to OHKO or soften many ranged enemies.

  • B Slot: Wary Fighter 3

Keeping most of her original build, Effie finds a new lance and becomes an entirely different unit. With a Brave Lance in hand, she can ORKO nearly any non-Green unit and half of the Green units. If a Bonfire or Ignis is charged up, very few units outside of a Hector will live to tell the tale of the Effie who blasted through mountains. For example, a neutral Effie with Ignis loaded can hit a neutral Hector for upwards of 35 damage. That is two-thirds of his full HP. In the hands of the right strategist, Effie can set the tone for many battles baiting and killing enemies she has a direct disadvantage towards. Threaten Def 3 is the preferred C-Passive since the debuff effect is "doubled" by Brave Lance's double attack feature. Death Blow 3 pairs well with Brave Lance as well, but Distant Counter offers a lot of strategic value for Effie building up Bonfire/Ignis charges as well as OHKOing or softening up ranged foes for allies to pick off.

Effie appreciates Armor-buffs such as Hone and Goad Armor that further increase her attack power and improving the Brave Lance's usage. Or Fortify and Ward Armor to further improve her overall bulk as she takes foes out as they run into her.

Hector in Blue (Distant Counter + Quick Riposte)
Brave Lance+ A Distant Counter
Pivot B Quick Riposte 3
Bonfire C Goad Armor

Show Explanation/Analysis
  • Preferred Nature: +Speed/ -Res
  • Weapon: Brave Lance+ / Silver Lance+
  • Support Skill: Pivot / Swap
  • Special: Bonfire / Ignis
  • A Slot: Distant Counter
  • B Slot: Quick Riposte 3
  • C Slot: Goad Armor / Threaten Spd 3 / Threaten Def 3 /Varies on team
  • Sacred Seal: SPD +1

With a Speed-increasing nature, 1 Hone Armor, 2 Goad Armor buffs and a SPD +1 seal, Effie reaches 40 SPD (44 SPD at +10 Merged) which will avoid many double attacks from enemies. Pair that up with Quick Riposte 3 and Distant Counter, and she will be double-attacking everything on the defensive while only receiving single attacks. While a bit unorthodox, this Effie can produce monstrous results depending on the enemy team. Achieving the benefits of Wary Fighter 3 without the drawback as she takes advantage of Quick Riposte is quite an impressive power boost to Effie. Add that to Distant Counter, and many units will struggle to compete with her. Her main nemesis besides the heavy skill investment and team-composition requirements is dealing with units that are merged several times over her who attain several more SPD points to increase the Speed gap that Effie closed, so this build is more effective at higher merged levels where it is impossible for the gap to be widened further. Threaten Spd 3 can also be used to shrink the gap for melee units as well.

  • Solid bulk
  • Amazing attack
  • Wary Fighter makes her hard to KO
  • High BST supports high score in Arena

  • Armored movement range
  • Weak to magic damage
  • Usually more vulnerable below 50% HP

One of the strongest attackers in the game, Effie can potentially ORKO many units including full HP green characters.  She is able to bait nearly any attack in the game and survive to KO them the next turn.  It works in her favor that green is currently the least-used color in Arena further improving her stance as one of the most strategically beneficial units for use in Arena's Offense mode.  With one of the highest BSTs in the game, she ensures she maximizes the Arena score more than most units that have not undergone any merges.  Plus, not many Emblians look as great as her with all that armor on.

High Attack:

  • The absolute highest ATK in the game.  Effie hits everything hard including KOing many full HP green units.
  • Pairs very well with an inherited Brave Lance+

High Defense and HP:

  • Gives her  the bulk to absorb nearly any attack from any source while retaining a lot of HP.
  • Works exceptionally well with Wary Fighter

Scores highly in Arena:

  • Due to armored-units having a naturally high BST, they can be used effectively to bump up Arena scores.

Low Speed:

  • With a neutral speed of 22, she has the third-lowest speed in the game.
  • Almost always double-attacked.
  • Mitigated with Wary Fighter.

Very Low Resistance:

  • Fifth lowest Resistance among blue units.
  • Takes heavy magic damage from any color.
  • Mitigated by Wary Fighter.

Restricted Movement:

  • Being an armored unit means she can only move one step at a time.
  • Improved with the right support ability: Pivot or Swap

Effie is a unit in a class all her own.  She is able to hit everything hard regardless of color.  And with the appropriate build, she can take nearly any attack from any unit and KO on the return attack.  Place her in the right team, and she will solve many problems that you run into (or at least act as hard-to-kill bait).

Be wary of her limited movement and magic-users with Lancebreaker.  And once she drops below 50% HP, her Wary Fight becomes inactive, so she will take double attacks from most units at that point.

With a Brave Lance+, Effie is able to survive an attack and ORKO the following units at their neutral state:

The following units are capable of killing Effie within 2 exchanges at their neutral state:

While this is a quick overview of Effie's potential as a unit, her opponents have an uphill battle in order to contend with Effie.

Team Options

Effie is an armored unit, so she pairs well with other armored units giving their movement-type buffs:

Dancers that can give her another turn to move and close the gap between enemies:

Healers that can buff her defenses/debuff the enemy while keeping her Wary Fighter active:

Mages that can hide behind her as they cover for each other's weaknesses:

Green units with high defense and/or high physical attack can outlive Effie in a slugfest:

Green units with magical attack can give Effie some trouble or hit her hard:
