  • A Slot: Fury / Distant Defense / Attack +3 / Grani's Shield
  • B Slot: Quick Riposte / Vantage / Lancebreaker / Renewal
  • C Slot: Threaten Speed / Threaten Defense

This set aims to build off of Camus' existing base kit or includes cheap skills with good availability. Moonbow is Camus' strongest special skill; but Bonfire is a great, readily available alternative. Fury is arguably the strongest A slot skill for Camus, but Attack +3 can be a decent alternative. Grani's Shield is a strong ability in theory, but with cavalry effective weapons few and far between it has little practical use.

Camus' B slot is very flexible depending on how you want to use him, but Quick Riposte, Vantage, Lancebreaker and Renewal are all solid options. Threaten Speed is a solid C slot skill, but this can be replaced for a cavalry team buff or a Hone skill.

Do note that the third level of Quick Riposte is not mandatory, which is the reason this build is listed as Budget.

Gradivus A Fury 3
Reposition B Vantage 3
Moonbow C Threaten Spd 3

  • C Slot: Threaten Speed / Threaten Defense

Gradivus granting Camus the Distant Counter ability allows him to duel melee and ranged units alike. This makes Vantage particularly powerful: if he reaches the HP threshold, Camus can secure crucial KOs against mages.

Fury is recommended to help Camus reach the threshold for Vantage, but Distant Defense might be worth considering on a more defensive build. The other skills are flexible.

Introduction

Camus is a strong lance wielding cavalier with solid stats in everything but resistance. His greatest strength is the Gradivus lance he wields, granting 16 might and the Distant Counter ability. This makes him one of the most competitive cavaliers available, surpassing similar units like Abel and Sully. Camus' low resistance leaves him vulnerable to mages however, who will be able to take him out unless he carries a skill to check them.

Strengths

Solid stats across the board:

  • 42 HP, 32 attack, 33 speed and 31 defense make Camus a formidable frontline unit.
  • His balanced stats allow him to take on a number of roles; as a tank or as a DPS unit.

Lance-wielding Cavalier:

  • Camus is a strong choice in most teams as a lance wielding cavalier thanks to his strong match-ups against sword wielders. 3 movement ensures that Camus can engage infantry in the backline as well as vulnerable mages.

Gradivus:

  • The Gradivus is identical to weapons that have preceded it: Raijinto, Siegfried, Ragnell etc., though it is the first lance with the Distant Counter ability. This weapon improves Camus' match-ups against archers, ninja and magic users, though his low resistance makes Vantage an important skill if he wants to win duels against mages.
Weaknesses

Low resistance:

  • 17 resistance is low, and though Camus has a solid speed stat of 33, he may struggle to avoid follow-up attacks from mages running speed boosting skills like Fury, Life and Death or Swift Sparrow.

Limited merging:

  • As a Grand Hero Battle unit, Camus cannot currently be merged past +1. This means that he will fall behind in high-end arena teams, though this will not be an issue to those with unmerged teams.
Team Options

Camus can make a great filler unit, as his stats grant him good survivability on the frontline. From a teammate, Camus wants a partner that can check his glaring weakness to magic users. Sanaki, Lilina and Celica can all guard him from green mages like Julia and Nino, whereas other cavalry units like Xander or Eldigan can engage and KO them before Camus falls into their attack range.

Counters

As previously mentioned, Julia and Nino as well as Spring Camilla pose the greatest threats to Camus due to his low resistance. Other powerful green units like Hector and Minerva will shrug off his attacks and KO him as well. Blue units can threaten Camus as well: Ephraim with Lancebreaker can 2HKO Camus, whereas mages like Linde can also KO him if he cannot avoid the follow-up.
