Boon

  • +ATK: Caeda’s arguably best stat to increase. Aside from being a superboon, Caeda wants to be hitting for as much effective damage as possible. This also helps salvage her poor attack.

  • +SPD: While Caeda’s speed is amazing to begin with, she will have some trouble doubling common fast swords in the Arena such as Ayra. A speed boon can help ensure her Flashing Blade refinement always goes off.

Neutral

  • RES: Ideally this should be kept as neutral. Caeda’s resistance sits at a whopping 34, allowing her to ploy almost every hero in the game, especially with Fury. Leaving it untouched allows her to work more on her offensive capabilities while being an excellent counter to mages.

  • HP: Taking a HP bane does not affect her offensive sets significantly, and so can be lowered if need be. This does tamper with her magical bulk for her Distant Counter sets though, so ideally this IV should be kept neutral.

Bane

  • -DEF: With her physical bulk being bad enough to begin with, DEF is her ideal bane to keep her magical bulk intact.

Wing Sword grants Caeda a specialization in eliminating Cavalry/Armored units, and so this build aims to capitalize on that niche. Her unique Flashing Blade refine is the upgrade of choice, allowing her to spam her special against opponents.

The choice of special depends on your playstyle. Moonbow is the safest option, giving her a guaranteed proc in conjunction with Desperation when low on health. Iceberg meanwhile grants her with a whopping 17 extra damage at neutral, making it easier to muscle through enemies that aren’t affected by effective damage. Galeforce seems like an odd pick, but it is extremely effective in rushing down fighting Armored/Cavalry emblem teams. Only pick this option if you are content with her dealing exclusively with these enemies, as the lack of offensive special hurts her otherwise.

Fury is the the optimal choice with this set. Aside from appreciating the extra stats Fury grants, it allows her to enter Desperation range safely thanks to the recoil damage. The increase in resistance also makes her more reliable in utilizing Ploy skills efficiently. If reliability is required, Swift Sparrow can be taken instead for the guaranteed offensive boosts.

As for B skill, Desperation is preferred above all else, as Caeda’s physical bulk is too fragile to realistically survive multiple engagements. Her C skill is based on whether you decide to field her in a flier team. Caeda’s native Fortify Fliers is perfect to provide her fliers with bulk, helping them tank powerful physical units such as lances that Caeda will inevitably struggle against. Outside of a Flier team, Spd Ploy is taken to ensure that she doubles her opponents, as well as providing more Flashing Blade charges.

Def Ploy should always be taken for her sacred seal slot. This helps shore up her bad attack stat, and provides utility for other units to take advantage of. If being able to ploy reliably isn’t a feasible option, a simple Atk seal will suffice.

Taking advantage of Caeda’s excellent resistance, this set aim to handle mages on top of the usual Cavalry/Armored enemies. Unlike her offensive set, this build is more reliant on Flier Emblem support to truly shine, but the payoff allows her to diversify the amount of units she can counter easily. Distant Counter is self explanatory, allowing Caeda to bait and kill mages on enemy phase. Iceberg is the preferred special this time, as Caeda has no problem tanking red/green  mages while being able to retaliate with a high powered special in return, especially thanks to Wing Sword’s Flashing Blade refine. Moonbow still has some merits if combined with Desperation, allowing her to safely double and proc her special once she starts to lose HP.

As for B skill, Quick Riposte is the preferred special of choice, ensuring a follow up attack against speedy mages such as SM!Eirika. Desperation is another viable option, granting her some player phase utility once her health starts to drop low. As her focus shifts from a player phase unit to a defensive magical tank, Caeda can afford to hold Hone Fliers to boost her offensive flier teammates instead. This ultimately comes down to personal preference, and her base Fortify Fliers is more than enough if on a budget.

To aid in tanking magical hits, Distant Def can be considered in her Sacred Seal slot. Otherwise Def Ploy is recommended once again to hit her foes harder if it manages to land.

Introduction

Previously mocked for hitting like a wet noodle, Caeda has returned with a vengeance thanks to her new signature weapon, Wing Sword. Being able to deal effective damage against cavalry and armor, two archetypes commonly found in Arena, provides her with an extremely potent niche. Caeda’s excellent speed also synergizes well with her weapon’s unique Flashing Blade refinement, allowing her to launch her specials easily.  Her great resistance also makes her an amazing Ploy user, granting her debuffing utility for both herself and her teammates.

While her exclusive weapon certainly gives Caeda a new lease on life, her old weaknesses continue to plague her. Her low attack is still a glaring flaw, and persists against any foe that she isn’t hitting for effective damage. Physical bulk remains an issue, making her vulnerable against any strong physical blow. With that said Caeda has definitely emerged victorious from the new update, granting her an excellent niche that is relevant to the current arena metagame.

Strengths

Wing Sword

The weapon that currently defines Caeda, dealing effective damage against both armored and cavalry units.

The popularity of these two archetypes ensure that Wing Sword is extremely relevant in the Arena.

Excellent Speed

Sitting at 37 speed at neutral, Caeda has no problem with outspeeding common units found in arena, especially after a Hone Flier buff.

This synergizes well with Wing Sword’s Flashing Blade refinement.

Great Resistance

Caeda possess an incredible 34 resistance at base, allowing her to ploy almost all the units in the game coupled with Fury.

The magical bulk also aids her in dueling mages, especially in a Distant Counter build.

Weaknesses

Low Physical Bulk

With a mediocre 24 defense at base, Caeda will keel over against any bows or Brave weapons in general.

Her HP isn’t helping matters, making repeated melee encounters difficult without Desperation.

Horrible Attack

25 attack for a flier is absolutely abysmal.

This fortunately can be shored up with an Atk boon, but Caeda will still be left wanting against enemies that aren’t cavalry or armored.

Team Options

Caeda absolutely shines in Flier Emblem, and for good reason. Anyone who can give her Hone/Goad Flier support helps her immensely to boost her low attack. Past that any hero with great defenses easily make good partners to complement her substandard physical bulk.

  • Minerva, Cherche, Michalis, Myrrh - Physically bulky green fliers who counter the lances Caeda fears.
  • Dancers, Singers - Refresh units who provide Caeda with an extra turn, either allowing her to strike another enemy or put herself out of harm’s way. New Year Azura deserves a special mention for being a flying unit carrying Hone Fliers, providing excellent synergy with one another.
  • Lyon, M!Robin, S!Camliia, Sophia, Boey - Common Raven tome users who can bait bow users and kill them in return.
Counters

Any physical unit that isn’t cavalry, armored or green will pose some problems for her, but her biggest counters will ultimately be anyone wielding a bow.

  • Bridal Cordelia, Klein, Jeorge, Takumi - Strong infantry archers who have no problem shooting Caeda out from the sky, regardless of bow used.
  • Shiro, Lukas, Tana, Nephenee - Physically bulky lancers that can take Caeda’s attacks with ease, and finish her off easily in return.
  • Alm, Reinhardt, Brave Lyn - Common units who typically run a weapon with a Brave effect, stripping Caeda’s speed advantage. Though Reinhardt and Brave Lyn are still subjected to Wing Sword’s effectiveness, their excellent mobility combined with ranged weaponry allows them to outrange Caeda on player phase.
