Ayra has pretty good bulk for a speedy offensive unit. 31 base Defense, 46 base HP, and 40 Speed when she wields Refined Wo Dao / Slaying Edge make her hard to one-round, even for some mages. This combined with her ability to fire off one turn cooldown / boosted Regnal Astra or abusing Aether for sustain with her weapon's effect makes her a strong Enemy Phase unit when built right.

For this build, Distant Counter is easily the best choice to give her a better chance against mages. If the team can already deal with mages and prefers to utilize Ayra as a melee duelist, either Close Def or Steady Breath work great on her.

The Slaying Edge is the most suitable choice for her weapon. One turn Regnal Astra is extremely potent when combined with Wrath and turns her into a Hybrid Player Phase / Enemy Phase monster. It allows her to forego the need to use the Quickened Pulse Sacred Seal to fire off Regnal Astra during her first counterattack so she can opt for Distant Def 3 instead. With Slaying Edge and Wrath, she can fire off a Wrath-boosted Regnal Astra every turn once she gets low.

Wo Dao works as another alternative, since it can allow her to burst extremely hard when Regnal Astra is active, and the stats boost is similar to refined Slaying Edge.

Ayra makes very good use of either Quick Riposte as her main B slot if Wrath is not chosen. Her high speed allows her to avoid most follow-ups in the game so Quick Riposte will almost always guarantee her a kill when attacked, provided she survives. Afterwards, either she fires off Regnal Astra during her first retaliation if Quickened Pulse was used, or during her second counterattack with Quick Riposte. Either way, there are very few units who can attack her without taking a heavy beating.

Aside from Quick Riposte, the B slot skills Swordbreaker and R Tomebreaker are mainly for coverage to give her a better match-up against units such as Ryoma and Celica.

This set aims to take advantage of her amazing base skillset and turn Ayra into a speedy juggernaut.

Ayra functions very similarly to Brave Roy - abusing her weapon's amazing effect to continuously gain access to her Specials, whether it is Regnal Astra to blow enemies to oblivion, or Galeforce to continue the onslaught.

For her A slot, Swift Sparrow is already amazing on her, but one can go for Fury to give her tankier stats and a better Enemy Phase at the cost of one Speed and Attack, or use Life and Death to make her even more of a glass cannon. In general, Swift Sparrow already serves her well with what she is supposed to do and rarely needs to be switched out. Sturdy Blow is also a decent option if players want to give her some tankiness when initiating into the opponent while retaining her damage output.

Ayra comes naturally with Desperation, and it has amazing synergy with her kit, allowing her to continue KOing even at low health. Outside of Desperation, Wrath is a strong option for Ayra, allowing her to eviscerate any enemy she encounters when it triggers. Wrath's triggering condition allows Ayra to have an amazing first-turn burst if she initiates and doubles, and in the long run can still provide value by continuously lowering her Special cooldown every turn after that. Both are equally great options for Ayra.

Phantom Speed is the best Sacred Seal for Ayra because it raises her weapon's triggering threshold to a great level, allowing Ayra to continue triggering her special skill against the vast majority of the heroes. Otherwise, a +3 Speed Sacred Seal is also good on Ayra, as unlike Phantom Speed, it helps her with doubling the opponent. If Ayra has a +Speed boon, she can use the Attack +3 Sacred Seal for more damage since she'll likely be able to trigger her weapon's effect against pretty much everyone.

While not being a Flier like Elincia or having enormous base Attack like Soleil, Ayra is still one of the best Firesweep Sword users in the game thanks to Regnal Astra. The potential of turn 1 / 2 Regnal Astra without any repercussion from the enemy is quite potent and can eliminate a lot of troublesome enemies in the upper echelons of the arena.

Since Ayra comes naturally with Swift Sparrow, she does not need any investment in the A slot. Life and Death gives her 1 more Attack and Speed, but will lessen a lot of her tanking power when a circumstance arises. Fury gives a slight bit of bulk, but its main use is to lower her HP to Wrath's range.

Swordbreaker is in general the most useful B slot for Ayra. It allows her to one round enemies' speedy Swordmasters like other Ayras, Mia or Speed boosted Soleil. Hit and Run is also a great default option for pretty much any Firesweep user to ensure their safety.

Quickened Pulse is amazing with this build for arena purposes, as it allows Ayra to use Regnal Astra on turn 1, ensuring a reliable quick kill. Otherwise, a Speed +3 Seal would do her a lot of good.


Ayra is a sword infantry unit with amazing Speed, Defense, Attack, and a fantastic legendary weapon. 
Based on stat spread alone, Ayra competes with the swordmaster's archetype like Lyn, Navarre, Karel, Athena or Lon'qu. However, her unique weapon, Regnal Astra and higher BST makes her stand above all of them and cement herself as one of the best red units in the game.

At first glance, Ayra seems like a quintessential Player Phase unit. Nonetheless, her weapon's passive works in the Enemy Phase just like Heavy Blade, and her low-cooldown powerful Special makes her amazing even in Enemy Phase. Her base kit is already fantastic on its own and requires very little investment before she starts cleaving enemies in half, but if you want to play around with her amazing stat spread then she can run other options to great effect. The Weapon Refinery also brings Ayra two extremely potent choices to ponder (the Wo Dao and Slaying Edge) and they can even outperform her default weapon when given proper resources.


Fantastic Offense

Ayra is, without question, one of the best duelists in the game due to high Attack, Speed, and access to a great personal weapon. Her excellent statline lets her run a plethora of builds ranging from Player Phase focus with Desperation to Enemy Phase focus with Distant Counter. It allows her to be built to suit your team's needs.

Great Personal Weapon

Ayra's Blade is one of the best legendary swords for Player Phase thanks to its ability to lower the cooldown of her Special through combat based on a stat she already excels at. It allows her to trigger her Regnal Astra during every engagement assuming her Speed is higher than her opponent (which can be further boosted with the Phantom Speed seal).

Few Clear Weaknesses

Although Ayra may not have the best Defense or Resistance, her high Speed all but guarantees she will not be OHKO'd, even by Blue units. Her powerful Specials will deal significant damage to anything she attacks, meaning she is influential in all stages of the game and Arena.


Poor Base Resistance

Ayra's low Resistance leaves her vulnerable to being picked off by blue tomes and dragons. In addition, Winter Tharja may be able to withstand her assault and deal lethal damage with Bold or Vengeful Fighter.

Team Options

Ayra performs amazingly well when supported with strong buffers since her stats are already well distributed. As a powerful duelist, she enjoys having units that can deal with the few enemies she can't break through, since she provides great coverage to the rest of the team.

  • Offensive Buffers: Delthea, Linde, Performing Azura, and Brave Lucina give Ayra great buffing potential, and since they are a different color Ayra will easily fit onto teams with them.
  • Tanky Greens: Fae, Hector, Nino, and Brave Ike give great blue coverage. Ayra mostly struggles against physically tanky blue units and high-damage blue mages, so units whom are strong against these threats are great teammates for her.
  • Dancers: Ninian, Performing Inigo, Azura, and Shigure give Ayra Dancer support that she greatly appreciates since it allows her escape sticky situations or quickly eliminate threats in succession.

Despite all her strengths, Ayra really struggles to break through bulky blue units. In addition, blue tomes can deal heavy damage to her or outright KO her due to her low Resistance. Finally, Ayra relies on Special activation to deal damage to enemy red units -- the Guard skill will severely hamper her ability to deal significant damage to opponents.

  • Bulky Blue Dragons: Nowi and Corrin (F) easily survive Ayra's onslaught due to their excellent Defense and strike at her low Resistance. If they run Triangle Adept or Swordbreaker, Ayra will have no chance against them. 
  • High Firepower Blue Mages: Linde, Reinhardt, Summer Corrin, Delthea, Mae, and Tailtiu can one-round Ayra with proper setups; any Blue Tome who deals high damage can also replicate this. 
  • Melee Blues: Cordelia, Est, Hinoka, and Bridal Charlotte threaten Ayra because a Brave Lance will easily delete her before she can even hit back. Other Brave units like Hana or Elincia can also quickly KO Ayra on the player phase, but will probably get doubled and killed if they try to bait Ayra. 
  • Blue Tanks: Lukas, Tana, and Effie can plow through Ayra's Defense and take pittance of damage in return.
