Utilizing Arthur's all-rounded stats, he ends up being quite similar to the Nohrian Princess Camilla, just without the resistance.

Slaying Axe is Arthur's weapon of choice. With it, he can unleash his specials much faster.

Fury helps enhance the hapless hero's overall performance, further increasing the performance of his very equal statline.

Renewal will allow Arthur to participate in more fights if he has to, while Lancebreaker lets him mow down faster units like Tana/Nephenee with ease.

Thanks to his base 43 HP, Arthur can effectively run Panic Ploy to shut down common Bladetome wielding mages. A HP seal helps ensure that he can get the Panic status off.

A budget build for Arthur giving him more power and flexibility at the cost of opening a big weakness.

Emerald Axe allows Arthur to scoff at blue units, and Death Blow is paired with Lancebreaker to ensure he gets the kill on faster lances. These two factors combined make him a fantastic blue counter at the cost of being absolutely terrible at facing a red unit, and mediocre against greens.

As for the special skill, Escutcheon / Pavise is taken to minimize the damage if our hero faces a red or green unit.

Arthur, the Hapless Hero is an all-rounded axe unit with okay attack, defense and speed.

The hero of justice has good bulk allowing him to take some hits, but his speed is just below okay and he becomes quite vulnerable to follow-ups.

His physical bulk is quite good though due to his nice HP and nice defense.

However, like many axe users, Arthur's resistance is pretty low and he'll have to take caution when against magical units.

Overall, Arthur is an all-rounded axe unit with very "meh" speed and low resistance. Thus, he is a very average unit to have on your team.

Strengths

Good attack

  • Arthur has a nice attack stat of 32, tied with Gunter.

Good physical soak

  • At neutral IVs, Arthur will require 73 neutral or 61 advantage attack to fall in one hit.
  • As for double attacks, heroes will need either 52 neutral or 44 advantage attack.
Weaknesses

"Whatever" speed

  • At 29 speed, Arthur will be doubled by units such as Ogma, Marth and Catria.

Bad magical tolerance

  • With only 24 resistance, Arthur will require 67 neutral or 56 advantage attack to fall in one hit.
  • With two hits, this becomes 46 neutral required.
  • As for Dire Thunder, Reinhardt and Olwen will need 58 attack (disadvantage) to defeat the hero of justice.
Team Options

Arthur is a very all-rounded unit with bad speed. To counteract this very awkward value (29), the hapless hero would sing to lady Grace if placed with Hone Speed users.

Otherwise, Arthur can do many things but not too well. He can be placed in any team requiring an anti-blue unit. There isn't much to say about his placement in teams due to how average he is, allowing him to fulfill not too many roles.

Counters

Arthur is quite hapless if encountering a magic unit. Really, any of the common speedy mages Linde, Nino and Celica will send him to the shadow realm.

Of course, the speedy sword units Ryoma and Lucina will cause Arthur to have an unfortunate day.
