Arden mastered the power of pursuit with his Follow-up Ring, but the Bold Fighter/Quick Riposte Seal combo is arguably a bit stronger due to Bold Fighter’s lack of an HP threshold as well as the increased Special charge. A Slaying Edge is ideal to maximize Arden’s incredibly min-maxed stat spread by allowing him to quickly unleash powerful Ignis nukes, but on a budget his base Brave Sword can work. A +Def refine is generally best, but +Atk is worth considering if running Distant Counter due to Arden being reliant on KO’ing mages in one hit in order to not get torn apart due to his low Resistance.
Steady Breath works best with a Slaying Edge and Bonfire, as it allows Arden to activate his Special on every counterattack. Alternatively, Arden can use the Quickened Pulse Seal and Ignis to be able to activate a much stronger Special, at the cost of losing the ability to double on Enemy Phase unless using Follow-up Ring. Atk/Def Bond boosts both of Arden’s key stats, with the additional benefit of working on both phases. However, Bond skills can be a bit difficult to utilize on Player Phase due to the positioning requirement. If this is a concern, then Fire Boost can also function on both phases though it gives less stats overall than Atk/Def Bond. Finally, Distant Counter is an option if really wanting Arden to be able to handle ranged threats - he is adept at handling physical ranged threats like archers and dagger users, but he will struggle against mages unless he can KO them in a single counterattack. One way to counter this is to use the Quickened Pulse Seal along with Bonfire and a Slaying Edge in order to allow Arden to instantly activate Bonfire on his first counterattack.
Bold Fighter’s extra Special charge allows Arden to activate Bonfire even when initiating on enemies that can’t counterattack. However, this build will function just as well with his base Follow-up Ring. Using Follow-up Ring also frees up Arden’s Sacred Seal slot for something other than Quick Riposte; Close Def will increase his bulk further against melee threats and is a good choice if using Steady Breath. Otherwise, Heavy Blade allows Arden to access the increased Special charge even with Follow-up Ring, but it can be a bit dicey to reliably activate without a +Atk refined weapon and/or team support. Finally, the Quickened Pulse Seal allows Arden to use Ignis with Steady Breath if wanting a bigger initial nuke, or to have an instant Bonfire activation if using an A skill other than Steady Breath, such as Distant Counter.

Arden’s incredibly low Speed can be used to his advantage if focusing entirely on Enemy Phase; since he’s almost always going to get doubled, he can utilize a Wo Dao along with Ignis and Vengeful Fighter to unleash insanely potent Ignis nukes. Wo Dao can be replaced by Safeguard for a more defensive option. For a more conservative approach, Arden can utilize a Slaying Edge, Guard, and the Quick Riposte Seal to be sturdier by not having to worry about taking high damage from powerful enemy Specials. Ignis is generally the Special of choice unless running a Slaying Edge and Steady Breath, in which case Bonfire is better due to Arden being able to activate it on every counterattack.
Sturdy Stance and Atk/Def Bond are both fantastic skills that boost Arden’s key stats. Since this build is entirely focused on Enemy Phase, he can utilize either without much trouble. Sturdy Stance will always work regardless of positioning, but Atk/Def Bond gives slightly more stats at the cost of requiring Arden to be adjacent to an ally. The extra Special charge gained from Steady Breath doesn’t stack with that of Vengeful Fighter, but both can still work decently well together if considering Vengeful Fighter as a better Quick Riposte. However, this isn’t as efficient as utilizing either Sturdy Stance or Atk/Def Bond since Arden will likely be able to activate Ignis regardless. Steady Breath works best with a Slaying Edge and Bonfire for instant Special activations.
Close Def offers a strong boost in Arden’s defenses; despite his low base Resistance, Arden has enough HP that many dragons will actually struggle to KO him, so Close Def can be useful in that regard as well. If using Guard, then the Quick Riposte Seal is a must to ensure that Arden can double.
Introduction
Arden is a prime example of what a heavily min-maxed statline can do for a unit, particularly one that has the benefit of armor BST. He has insanely high HP and Defense as well as a strong Attack stat. His Speed and Resistance are both very poor; Arden can easily circumvent his Speed thanks to his base Follow-up Ring or other skills like Bold Fighter or Vengeful Fighter, but he can’t really get away from his awful Resistance. Fortunately, Arden’s massive HP pool sometimes lets him survive magical damage threats.
Another problem that Arden faces is his limited availability and lack of access to IVs. This means that his potential is heavily limited. Fortunately, Arden is strong (and tough!) enough that he can easily hold his own despite these setbacks. While Arden is arguably outclassed by other sword armors, he is still a fantastic unit that can excel even with little investment.
Strengths
Massive Physical Bulk
With 60 HP and 41 Defense, Arden is a gigantic physical wall that very few units can break through.
Armor Unit
As a result of being an armored unit, Arden has access to unique skills like Bold Fighter and Vengeful Fighter as well as buffs such as Ward Armor.
Follow-up Ring
One of Arden’s claims to fame, his unique Follow-up Ring allows him to consistently be able to double on either phase. While it can be overshadowed by the likes of Bold/Vengeful Fighter, it still holds its own (particularly for budget purposes).
Strong Budget Set
Thanks to having Follow-up Ring, Arden can be very effective even with a very budget build. All he needs is an Assist, Special, and A skill and he’s ready to go.
Weaknesses
Awful Resistance
Arden’s Resistance is easily his biggest weakness. His massive HP pool helps make up for it somewhat, but many magical damage threats are capable of burning through it.
Poor Mobility
He hates being called slow, but Arden’s mobility is a big problem for him. He will struggle to engage enemies on Player Phase without Armor March support because of it.
Anti-Armor Weapons
As an armored unit, Arden shares a weakness to anti-armor weapons like Slaying Spear and Micaiah’s Thani. He could mitigate this with Svalinn Shield, but severely hinders his build to do so.
Team Options
Counters
- Strong Blues: Arden is susceptible to enemies that can overpower him with color advantage like Effie, Ephraim, and Cordelia.
- Magic Damage: Arden will easily succumb to magic damage from units like Reinhardt, Ishtar, Lilina, Nowi, and Tiki (Young).
- Anti-Armor Weapons: Units wielding anti-armor weapons like Micaiah, Nephenee, Clair, and Hoshidan Summer Micaiah can completely devastate Arden.
- Guard: Arden is reliant on his Specials for a big chunk of his damage, so tanky units with Guard like Lukas, Shiro, and Corrin (F) can effectively shut him down.

I call this build instant transmission Arden. With his high hp and deflect magic 3. He will highly survive with less that 50% HP. Once that happens. Make sure to instant transmission to dancers, attack, and then have them dance him, and instant transmission back to another ally.

Fire Boost - because I have no DB3 fodder but this is also cool for Enemy Phase.
Follow-up Ring - Opposite of Desperation = pretty decent
Threaten Def 3 - More Deeps. C slot is always flexible. Panic Ploy if you really like this guy. but chances you have someone with PP (or seal) already.
Seal - HP +5 is more HP. or Deflect seals to mitigate more incoming damage.
Brave Sword - Obvious Player phase weapon. Slaying sword maybe.
Swap - always situational.
Bonfire - I like frequency or damage sometimes. Ignis may not proc as much as I want to in Arena. Ignis would be great in PVE maps tho, imo.

Arden's Clash on The Big bridge.
Special: Ignis
- 80% of units def is added to attack, this move was meant for armored units.
Weapon: Brave Sword+
-His speed might take a huge hit but it helps build up his special.
A: Distance counter
-sounds weird to use but I feel it works well with the follow-up ring (that or the meme of Arden's Clash on The Big bridge).
B: Follow-Up Ring
- I don't know if it makes hits regardless of distance but I'm going to say it's a quick riposte so it can help Arden build his special and deal damage.
C: Threaten attack
-Helps him not get so hardly damaged by Mage units.
Seal: Phantom Speed
-since he uses Brave sword+ his speed must be extremely low, so I decided to put phantom speed to help him not get quaded or doubled.

Arden obviously has the bulk to take hits, so why not use it in a spectacular fashion?
Possessing the highest defense in the game at 41, this has the deadly capacity of not only taking on physical threats with ease but of burst damage, and so this build takes that to its limit: Steady Breath's +4 grants him 45 defense when attacking, and its cooldown reduction effect combined with Slaying Edge allows Arden to charge Bonfire instantly after being attacked once: an instant 22 burst damage against whatever melee enemy was courageous enough to attack him.
Combined with Wary Fighter, Arden with this setup will be able to taken on a multitude of melee enemies and severely damage them, if not KO them instantly. This setup can be further boosted with various seals such as Deflect Melee for threats such as Brave Lance users, a simple stat boost from +Atk/Def 3 or HP + 5, or opt for the classic Panic Ploy due to his 60 HP allowing him to panic every member of the FEH cast. Arden's C Slot and Support Skill are otherwise flexible, though Arden would greatly appreciate buffs, especially to his defense.

Arden, despite being a slow tank in his original game, now finds himself with a unique niche that belies his seemingly slow nature: his ability to quad attack with ease due to his unique Follow-up Ring skill. This turns him from what would be a Zephiel Wary Fighter knockoff into a fast armor that doesn't need Speed, in the process becoming a uniquely deadly threat.
His Brave Sword should be kept for obvious reasons, as with 36 attack and guaranteed doubles, Arden will be dealing a great amount of damage to whatever he attacks. To boost Arden's damage, either Death Blow or Steady Blow are given: Death Blow for a full +6 damage to each strike, or Steady Blow for +4 while also increasing his physical bulk for when he is counterattacked and also slightly increasing his Bonfire/Ignis damage output. To this end, the +Attack seal is taken to boost his damage, and Bonfire is taken to guarantee burst damage if he quads an enemy that cannot retaliate.
Arden's C slot and Support Skill are greatly flexible, though he has some interesting options up for consideration. Due to having the highest HP in the game at 60, Arden is in a great position to take advantage of Panic Ploy or the Panic Ploy seal and debuff the entire cast, making them easier to take on. Another option is to give Arden Galeforce: his guaranteed quads already give Galeforce 4 charges, and it activates if Arden attacks 4 times while getting counterattacked after the second. It should be noted that unlike something like Galeforce Effie though, Arden has much less attack, and as such his kills are not fully guaranteed by quads alone without burst damage. Bonfire is a consistent burst damage special for Arden for any target he attacks, though Ignis can be taken instead if the player runs quickened pulse to guarantee its activation, or chooses for Ardent to only attack opponents that can counterattack.
