Camilla comes with sky-high Attack, mediocre Speed, and decent Resistance, for which she trades poor Defense and meager HP stats. Since she is a mage and not considered a generalist, she looks more to minmax her current stats rather than trying to cover her weaknesses.

Boons

  • ATK: Attack is likely to be Camilla’s best option for a boon, as it will allow her to reach an even 40 Attack before her weapon damage factors in. This skyrockets her killing potential, allowing her to hit damage numbers comparable to bladetomes with only her prf.
  • RES: Resistance is also a strong stat of hers, and increasing it here makes her better during the Enemy Phase, which she naturally excels at due to her prf tome.

Neutral

  • SPD: With a Speed of 30, Camilla is not winning any races, however, she doesn’t necessarily want to take it as a dump stat. With her tome in effect, Camilla can avoid being doubled by units with 38 Speed and below.

Banes:

  • HP: Camilla’s HP is largely irrelevant to her outside of tanking, most of which centers around boosting her Resistance.
  • DEF: This is likely her ideal bane, as it is already rather poor on her and has no significant benefit.

Adrift Camilla adds to the archetype of a red mage with extremely high Attack and decent Resistance with moderate Speed and poor Defense.  This archetype is not exactly new to red mages (Lilina, Sanaki) or fliers (Bridal Sanaki, F!Morgan), but it is new to red mage fliers.

Unless you pull a +SPD Camilla or plan on heavily merging her, her damage potential is significantly lowered against faster targets if you try to build for Speed, meaning that her prime objective then becomes oneshotting her opponents with overwhelming firepower. This is possible through seriously stacking her offensive capability on top of giving her two other fliers to buff her with both Hone Fliers and Fortify Fliers.

Glimmer is a given for her Special, since the Bladetome increases her Special cooldown- Glimmer is chosen over Moonbow due to its increased damage when Camilla is fully buffed, as well as the fact that Moonbow will proc off of her opponent’s generally-lower Resistance.

Camilla can choose to try and buff herself through her B and C slots with her native Atk/Res Link and an inherited Even Spd Wave, which will give her a total of +24 damage- only missing +6 from buffing her Defense- but it doing so lowers her damage potential by not running Chill Res for debuffs on her opponent (and she’s missing Defense enhancements). Her highest damage potential relies on her allies to buff her while she runs Chill Res and utilizes Flier Guidance to help her buffers position around her better.

If you can only manage one flier support, Camila should run Odd Res Wave in her C slot so she can still pick up the extra buffs as well as tank any magical attacks that may come her way.

Her A slot is fairly obvious- increasing her oneshot damage means utilizing Death Blow, which adds a +8 to her in-combat Attack. This set optimizes her total damage done through flier field buffs (+30 Attack), in-combat buffs (+8 Attack), opponent debuffs (-7 Resistance), and of course, her Sacred Seal (+3 Attack). It doesn’t get much more stacked than that, unless of course, you have a third supporting flier with Goad Fliers and Drive Atk...

Book of Dreams offers Camilla a massive boost to her Attack, as well as an in-combat opponent debuff by -4 to all stats if she’s next to an ally. She naturally wants to further take advantage of this by stacking in-combat buffs through Bond skills in order to maximize her in-combat buffs before even taking stock of field buffs.

Her natural kit and the new Atk/Def Bond Sacred Seal does this quite handily, but if you prefer raw damage then she can take this further by picking up Death Blow and Chill Res in her A and B slots, as well as an Atk Wave skill in her C slot, which piles on an +21 Attack when all is said and done. Compare this to her alternate build, which is more of a budget build and utilizes Atk/Res Bond and Atk/Res Link for +11 Attack. Both options stick with Atk/Def Bond in her Seal slot, as it grants her the highest Attack boost when near an ally- which she must be anyway, for her Book of Dreams to activate.

The primary recommended build is all about pumping out as much raw damage as she can, while being as self sufficient as possible, as it does not require using Assist skills in order to get buffs (though it is more conditional on things like Chill Res’ targeting and Atk Wave’s optimal turn). This is nearly capable of outdamaging her bladetome build, with 87 Attack vs 93 Attack- and only relying on her allies to be next to her, rather than relying on them for constant buffs. This is also not quite as impacted by Panic Ploy and other debuff skills as a Bladetome, which relies on visible buffs to do damage, because the majority of Book of Dreams’ buffing comes from in-combat, or nonvisible buffs.

The secondary build offers Camilla more of a versatile, bulky team support option by granting her +10 Atk and +5/+5 Def/Res from both her Bond A slot and her Bond Sacred Seal. This also gives her the +6 Resistance from Atk/Res Link in her B Slot for 41 Resistance total, and allows her to buff an ally with Atk/Res+6, should they need it. With this build, Flier Guidance can be used to further allow ease of positioning other fliers around her in order to help her manage her Bond status.

Introduction

Camilla comes flying in with her fifth iteration in Fire Emblem Heroes, merely weeks after Aversa became the first free tome flier, making her likely one of the most underhyped new units we’ve seen to date. Fortunately, she has a nice stat spread, with extremely high Attack, and a default kit capable of oneshotting many members of the cast.

Unfortunately, once again a tome flier prefers Bladetome over her prf tome, but Book of Dreams actually comes closer to matching Bladetome’s damage potential than many other tomes in the game. The explanation behind the numbers will come in the various builds they’re mentioned in, but here’s a basic rundown of Camilla’s maximum damage potential:

With Rauðrblade+ (first build), Camilla hits 93 Attack: +Atk, +24 flier buffs, +7 for Chill Res hitting target, with the Atk + 3 seal

With Book Of Dreams optimized for damage (second build), Camilla hits 87 Attack: +Atk, Death Blow 4/Atk Wave active/Chill Res hitting target, adjacent to ally and the Atk/Def Bond seal

With Book of Dreams optimized for ease of use (alternate second build), Camilla hits 77 Attack: +Atk, adjacent to ally and utilizing Atk/Res Link with the Atk/Def Bond seal

Whichever build seems right for you and your Camilla depends on how much you value raw damage vs conditional buffs vs investment capability. It should be noted here that the “default” investment in her third build has the highest Resistance and will fare the best as a Resistance tank.

Strengths

Good Attack

Camilla is now tied for the highest Attack among mages, with a default tome that further enhances her offenses

Her natural Attack with her tome is 54, and the debuffs it offers gives her functionally 58 Attack. This actually makes her very similar to Lilina and her legendary Forblaze tome.

Flier Mage

No matter what her stats look like, a flier mage is always useful due to the sheer damage cap that they can hit with bladetomes and how easy it is to buff them due to their movement ability.

Camilla happens to take that a step further by having a respectable statline, though she will have trouble doubling. It’s hardly an issue though, as most units won’t even survive the first hit.

Weaknesses

Low Speed

While Camilla’s Speed isn’t exactly a wasted stat- her tome’s effect means that units with under 39 Speed cannot double her if she’s next to an ally- it still could have been better either higher or lower.

She has trouble doubling things and her 30 Speed could have gone into a stat like her Defense instead to make her more formidable against dagger units.

Reliant On Allies

No matter what build she runs, Camilla relies on her allies to supply the bulk of her damage.

If she’s running bladetome, she’ll need at least some external buffs, and if she’s running Book Of Dreams, she requires positioning support and potentially an ally to Reposition in order to take advantage of Link buffs.

Team Options

Camilla works best on a team that can support her, whether through buffs or positioning

  • Buffing Fliers: Fliers who can buff her, such as Caeda, Hinoka, NY!Azura, or Palla are all friends of hers. Hone and Fortify buffs should be prioritized.
  • Defensive Units: Units that lack Resistance but have excellent defenses such as Leon, NY!Corrin, Ike, and Black Knight can all help to absorb opposing arrows that may fly her way.
  • Other Buffers: Camilla can also work as a Guidance unit for Tactics teams, which also utilizes her Book Of Dreams Tome well. This makes her play nice with units such as Ephraim, Amelia, L!Tiki, Shiro, and Hector.

Counters

Camilla shares flier weaknesses, as well as a weakness to blues.

  • Archers: Archers can rip through her low defenses easily. Units such as Bridal Cordelia, Brave Lyn, and Klein all pose a threat to her.
  • Blue Units: L!Tiki and Brave Hector are instant deaths to her with their native DC and armored stats.
  • Physical Reds: Camilla’s low defenses makes her weak to her own color, with units such as Sword Reinhardt, Ayra, and Owain posing the ability to take her out.
