Any units who could make good use of these skills?

Watersweep: Sothe or some ranged +Spd dragon check, like Julia or HS! Elincia.

QR: Large amount of options. The most popular would be Enemy Phase dragons or armored units if Vengeful Fighter isn't available.

Chill Spd: Wind's Brand Soren particularly.

Chill Res: Someone who's in a team with someone like Reinhardt if not Reinhardt himself.

DD: Bulky units with DC weapons especially, also Guard Bow users.

WB: Same as DD. Popular among those QR dragons with mixed defenses.

LnD: No reason to kill a 5* for it ever since Sothe was demoted.

IP: Your infantry unit with the highest HP who you intend to merge.

Odd Spd Wave: Eirika is a good option.

A lot of good ideas which didn't occur to me. Watersweep on Julia/Deirdre, very nice. Chill res on Reinhardt quite good. Maybe avoid sacrificing a 5* for L&D.

My main disagreement is with IP. I actually shy away from putting it on a merge project because a lot of my special spiral candidates don't need all 4 stats so I try to power them up through buffs rather than merges (much lower cost that way), which means the rest of the team might not be merged. That in itself doesn't mean it's a bad idea to put it on a merge project, because a merged unit is still generally better than an unmerged unit even if the rest of the team isn't merged, but in my play style, high-HP merged units tend to be tanks who will likely use atk smoke or something like hone atk because they're constantly repositioning my ranged units away.

If your play style is different, then maybe it does make a lot of sense to put IP on a merge project. But I tend to have other skills I want in the C-slots of merge projects with high HP.

I don't use IP myself, it was just the idea I had. I did teach it to Lukas because I had a bad IV Summer Xander I had to get rid of anyway.

Lukas was actually exactly who i thought of when I read your initial comment (great reply btw! Thanks for all the suggestions!). I’ve got him up to +5 by now and wanna bring him al the way to 10.

Watersweep: the best build I ever saw with it was Reinhardt +atk -HP, prf, L&D, phantom spd. With hone cavalry he'll actually sweep any dragon or mage up to 38 spd before any merges. Saizo can also be good with it, because he has the def to tank physical counterattacks.

QR: surely you can figure this one out

Chill spd: on a firesweeper, for example, especially lances because it can hit a number of super-fast swords including Karla and Ayra, securing doubles in those few cases where the firesweeper might not otherwise be fast enough. Also quite strong on +spd flying Tiki because flier buffs will make her fast enough not to need QR against anything. Also effective on lots of support units.

Chill res: on a unit designed to support a mage

Distant def: mostly for 2-range, especially mixed tanks. ex: Faye, some versions of Rebecca, H.Jakob, Henry, Sophia. Most DC tanks already have DC in their A-slot or prefer a breath skill.

Warding breath: try searching "warding breath fodder." Also, have a look at this topic https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/why-warding-breath

L&D: especially good on units who have a lot of their bulk in HP and consequently survive well on one hit but not more (ex: S.Takumi, Alm, Legion, even Reinhardt except his spd sucks so it's extremely rare not to prefer death blow). Also good on units who need a visible stat boost (as opposed to in-combat boost of swift sparrow) for AoE specials.

Infantry pulse: be careful with this skill. It requires to plan the team for it. Currently the most powerful infantry pulse combo is with special spiral on the unit receiving the pulse, and that can create all kinds of combinations, many of which I listed here https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/analyzing-special-spiral
Infantry pulse belongs on a teammate who supports a spiraler. You could conceivably put it on some +HP dancer, even.

Odd spd wave: there's such a thing as a bad IV Laevatein, but she's extremely potent even with the handicap. I wouldn't throw her away lightly. Odd spd wave isn't even that good if you ask me.

Thanks for all the resources und suggestions! I’ll definitey check out those links.

As for Laevatein, I got two today. The extra happens to be -Atk. First instinct is to merge but with a unique skill just thought I’d ask to be safe

QR: slow heroes with bad Speed and focus on Enemy phase... like Armor units (until you get Vengative Fighter). On this game, basically all who have no access to a natural double attack has to use QR.

Chill skills: i like using on support heroes like dancers (im not sure if healers can learn it). BNinian for example.

Distant Defense: The best options are heroes with:
1) Range 2 (mages, daggers)
2) High Resistence or Defense
3) Enemy Phase heroes (low speed, QR, and some specials like Iceberg or Bonfire)
Best examples: Deirdre, Julia, Julius, Oliver, Saias (if you wanna sacrifice his potential Speed).

Life and Death: heroes with high default attack and speed, but maybe not enough. Its a good way to counter bad Ivs (specially -Spd). I use it on Linde, Valter, Marisa (with Def Refinement so she keeps her Defense intact and gets an important boost on Ata and Spd).

Infantry Pulse: Infantry heroes with high HP and free C slot. For example, Marisa, Lonqu.

Odd Spd Wave: I use it on Eirika (my mergue proyect). She gets +12 speed and thats helps her a lot. It also work on bladetomers like Nino (gets 6 speed and also 6 attack from the effect of her tome).
