Well yeah it's a kind of gambling. You yourself said that sometimes you get a lot more with less than 150 orbs. If you retune your expectations to run good on some banners, bad on others, and close to average on yet others, you wouldn't consider the game such a ripoff just because one banner went bad for you. It's normal for a player to run good on some banners and bad on others. This is one of your bad streaks.

Are you defending Nintendo?
If so, then listen. This is among the worst runs I ever had, possibly the worst even and this isn't my first time. There was only really one time I had a sub-par time summoning. And do you know how long it takes for a player to replenish +200 orbs? At least a month. That is why calling this a Star Wars Battlefront copy isn't too far off. And I'll be laughing at any fool that attempts to justify gambling, especially when little kids can get their hands on this game.
*Edit*: "A lot more..." A little misconception there. I did not get a lot more to be honest. It was at best sub-par because I only got 3 5* heroes in that run.

This has nothing to do with Nintendo and everything to do with what you expect in a setup that quite obviously has significant variance built into it. I don't know where you get the idea that you're promised something you want because you have 200 orbs.

Do you think I don't know how hard it is to save orbs? I have never bought a single orb in my entire time in the game. The difficulty or ease with which a player can save 200 orbs has nothing to do with whether it's fair that 200 orbs can leave you disappointed for the focus unit you wanted. If you cannot accept that you will sometimes get better results on under 150 orbs and other times get nothing you really want with 200 orbs, this game is not for you. You're buying yourself grief with your time and energy.

So you're frustrated with 200 orbs and no desired focus unit. Fine - that's human and, to the best of my knowledge, healthy. Go with it. You might like to consider the two lines I wrote here https://fireemblem.gamepress.gg/q-a/help-18 But to call the thing a ripoff because you expect all your summons to be average or better is unreasonable and unfair.

While it sucks, I'm guessing that was all sniping? If it was full circles that is terrible, but if you're only sniping that's actually to be expected. That's why I will always do the first round as a full pull, snipe a few rounds if I'm targetting a specific unit, then go back to full circles just to maintain efficiency of my precious orbs.

Sniping is the most effective way to weed out the unwanted because it eliminates unnecessary factors. Besides, I only had 213 to spare.

Maybe more effective at avoiding the less desirables, but also usually means getting less 5* for your orbs.

Yeah, as a F2P myself, I've been there before. Long droughts without getting your desired characters can reduce your motivation for the game greatly. I've almost gotten sucked into spending money myself. Personally, I've never saved over 100 orbs at a time. Whenver I see a banner with a character I want, I snipe that specific color and spend all my orbs, summoning again whenever I accumulate enough. If I don't get the unit I want before the banner ends, I spend all my current orbs trying to. This strategy might take away some of the sting of 5 star droughts, as you won't be seeing all of your hard earned orbs being eaten up in a day.

Delete the game then. At what point were you guaranteed a L.Tiki just because you dumped your orbs into the banner? You have 8% pulling one of the 3 blue units, your chances of getting screwed over is high, very high.

And go away with the BF2 EA BS correlation! You throw a hissy fit and start linking IS to EA like practices. EA locked you out of characters for something you paid for. Pouring X amount of hours saving orbs isn’t going to guarantee you anything.

You come across as very much entitled. Delete the game and save us all from your next failed tantrum pulls.

I had the same expierence with the brave banner, I only got 1 5* unit and it was flying nino after 100 or 200+ orbs.

in this legendary banner, i have around 40 orbs and my free summon got me L!Tiki.

is the game really frustrating when it doesn't give you anything good or what you wanted? yes. but is it really unfair and a ripoff?
not at all. I'm 100% a f2p player as well. if you want to see somewhat of a ripoff then go see the summon rates for Fate Grand Order or Dragalia Lost.
