Dude Berserk is one of my all time favorite manga/anime series, for a while I figured your gp tag is based off that lol. Griffith and Guts must be friends.. enemies 💀

I first got into Berserk from the 90's tv series then started reading the manga. I read the older stuff online and picked up vol. 25-37, I haven't caught up recently, I think Dark Horse released 38 and 39 not too long ago. What did you think of the Golden Age Arc trilogy OVAs and the new tv series?

I got the same introduction into it. Saw the anime, got hooked and then I started the manga.

I liked the golden age movies, despite the horrible CG, but the new series is just horrible...feels so lifeless and I just can't watch it at all..Feels bad...but hey, put your glasses on, nothing will be wong.

I actually felt the same way about the cgi in the first Golden Age Arc ova. But I really think they improved a lot with the 2nd and 3rd movies and the handdrawn stuff still took up a good part of them and looked amazing. I was really pumped when I saw they showed the whole events of how the Skull Knight dueling Zodd at the portal and rescuing Guts and Casca from the Eclipse since they never showed that in the original series.. they really did an amazing job with that

About the new tv series.. like you I was really put off by the bad PS2 cgi animations and I think they focused more on how "badass" he is with a giant sword, rather than the weight of his fucked up life and experiences, at the start. But it starts to look a little better later on and it follows the manga storyline well, especially when it goes into the Berserker Armor and Griffith's new Band of the Hawk... as a Berserk fan, I really recommend you give it another try. Its all on crunchyroll if you have that

Ok, I might give it another shot then. Probably just gonna start with the second season I guess. Feels bad, that the manga volumes take so much time to make tho...it always kills my hype when I have to wait so long.

Also, we desperately need someone in FEH, who wields a Dragonslayer-esque sword. Probably will never happen, but I'm keeping my hopes up for seasonal characters in this regard.

Everyone who's been reading the manga has the same problem with his one volume per 1-3 year pace haha

I'm sure I saw your post about this a while ago, I want this to happen too. Lgn Ike kinda looks like Guts.. but he's not as dark and Ragnell is small compared to Gut's. Since I've been playing FEH I've been imagining what Berserk characters would look like as FEH sprites.. Femto flyer unit... Silat as a dagger unit.. man o' man

Yup, that was most likely me, I also remember rambling about wanting berserk-like stuff in FEH, even theorycrafting Guts' skillset in FEH some time ago and yeah, Ike is the closest to Guts that we have and even though Ragnell is a pretty big sword, it's just difficult to compare it to the Dragonslayer. We kind of have Silat thanks to Jaffar tho, but only kind of, but it's the main reason why I'm actually using him.

Berserk characters as FEH sprites would look unfittingly cute, which would be kind of awesome. I mean, just imagine that cute Zodd sprite or even Slan (gulp).

Late to the berserk chat, but I adore berserk in it's totallity. Watched the og anime a few years back before getting into the manga (wish it released faster though XD)

Yes! I thought Jaffar resembles him a bit, with that medieval/Persian style assassin outfit. Nosferstu Zodd would be like those most wanted beast unit bosses we've been wishing for, taking up 4 squares.. Slan? I'd love me some Slannnn... actually, I always thought Camilla's main unit resembles her too

I almost exclusively lead with my Hana, but I'm thinking of switching it up for the next Grand Conquest. I would love to hear your opinion (and anyone else who happens to be friends with me). The units I am thinking of leading with are:

Nino +10 (Everyone has her, though.)
Nowi +7 (Everyone and their mother has one--and at higher merges, to boot.)
Fae +7 (Almost as popular as Nowi.)
Effie +9 (I don't have the build I want on her yet, but she is Brave Lance + Death Blow.)
H!Jakob +1 (Guard Bow + Close Counter + Vengeful Fighter + Close Def, with +Def)
LA!Roy (Brave Bow + Death Blow, with +Atk)
Elise (Dazzling Gravity + Savage Blow 6, but -Atk unfortunately.)

Thanks man, Palla is actually my favorite but I had already had 4-5 5* copies of Catria from pity breakers over time (pre 5* demotion) so I worked on her instead. She runs great and even though she's not a +res iv (she's +atk-hp), she's been my semi-auto magic tank and I think the blue color palate fits that trait as well

Its funny, I know a lota people have those units you listed; Nino, Nowi, Fae, Effie, but I actually don't have any of them fully built up (just a 4*+10 Effie from when I first started). So your guys would definitely help me out

Do you plan on doing the magic tank/Berkut's sacrifice for Effie?

I am looking into that, but I think that Slaying Lance+ with Ignis or an AOE Special with Wary Fighter and Heavy Blade might perform better on both Phases vs. just making her focus primarily on Enemy Phase. If I also ever get extra Sumia, I think Reprisal Lance+ is another solid option.

(I also need some Distant Counter fodder in order for any of the above builds to work.)

I put Blazing Thunder on my Effie but haven't tried it yet, I think she would be great for AOE specials. That actually sounds like a good idea, giving her Reprisal Lance+, giving Effie a dual phase +6 to her high atk with Death Blow 3.. hey just wanted an opinion on this.. now remembering that wasted 4*+10 Effie, its a choice I made in my early days of FEH and I regret foddering that lance to her, especially a 4* +10 (I stopped making those), but is this build redundant? Like a armor unit with Vengeful Fighter 3 and QR 3 seal?

That set looks terrifying, if you have Bold Fighter fodder, you can give Bold fighter to Effie as her build is Firesweep L+ and DB3.

It's not a bad build, but I think that Firesweep Lance and Wary Fighter don't combo really well together. There is a lot of value in preventing double attacks on Effie during the Enemy Phase, especially when she can't counterattack, but I don't know if her high Atk is sufficient enough to one-shot a decent amount of enemies on Player Phase. I think she's better off using Bold Fighter with Firesweep to secure more kills--though, I understand if you don't have any extra Hardin as fodder.

With Wary Fighter, I would prefer Brave Lance so that you can get a similar effect to Firesweep + Bold Fighter on Player Phase, while still retaining the ability to counterattack Melee foes on Enemy Phase. Slaying Lance + Heavy Blade is another combo I think works well with Wary Fighter because she can easily tank the attack on Enemy Phase, retaliate (though, DC is needed against Ranged units), then initiate on Player Phase, activating her 4-turn Special.

Ohhh Olivia is waifu heaven... That's a hefty build you got on her, I want her bad... still haven't redeemed the free pull from that banner yet. Imagine if her Skuld also had the effect of Lene's Safeguard on top of the +3 all stats to allies? Man she would be insane
