Blade Tome newbie

Admittedly, I don't really get your question. Or rather, what *is* your question?

I run a blade team, and it's not as easy as building a single unit. Blade tomes benefit the most from a team that is at least in part focused on buffing. Having hone/fortify/etc C slot skills, + buffing seals (or rally supports) is kind of critical, and even then you have to really pay attention to your unit placement if you want maximum damage output.

I think that built for Sanaki is fine as a blade user, but her viability will depend a lot on your other team members and their support skills.

For blade tomes, only visible stat increases will stack damage; that is, if the stat increase will turn the stat value blue. So let's say blade tome Sanaki will do 10 damage unbuffed. If another unit uses rally speed on her, she'll get the +4 speed bonus and will also dish out 14 damage instead of 10, and that's pretty much how all the visible buffs work. Hone/Rally attack is the only kinda weird one because it'll add 4 to attack, making the base damage 14, and then the blade tome will stack another 4 damage for a total of 18.

The most damage I think you can stack on a blade tome is 18 from team support; 4 (spd) + 4(def/res) + 8(atk) + 2(def/res from a seal) (someone correct me if I'm wrong). That said, Defiant skills WILL stack on blade tomes (but not on top of an already buffed skill; not 100% sure of how the damage calc works here since I never use defiant skills. I think it just takes the highest value); Defiant Atk for example will add 7 to attack and another 7 to damage for an additional 14 total damage to your output.

Spurs, supports or other invisible stat boosts don't get counted. Does that help?

I was basically asking how do I make the most out of this without having either of the twins. Like, I need Rallies or are Hones mostly enough? I definitely didn't take Hone Seals into account, so that does help. I knew about the weird double counter for Atk buff, so I assume Defiant does indeed account for an extra +7 (or +14 total). I hear people say they can buff characters up to +30, and I want to know how to do that.

So far:

+14 off Defiant
+8 out of an Hone on each side
+ 2 from Seal

This build is pretty nice I will say, but it is kind of inconsistent considering you have to be below 50% HP for the Defiant Atk to even kick in. Granted, when it is active, escape route should also be an option to get around the map and destroy the enemy team (Assuming you have escape route 3). Teammates will definitely make your blade tome user the absolute star of your team. Blade tomes even go against the combat triangle well if enemy doesn't have triangle adept or any Jewel weapons (Ruby sword etc.). Hone and Fortify buffs are the best for these types of builds. I don't know if the Seals buffs stack with the C slot buffs or not, but I will say the best characters to run blade tome builds are Horse Mages and Flying Mages because you can run their Specific Hone/Fortify Buff skills for their movement type (Hone Calvary, Fortify Fliers etc.). These are even better as they provide +6 to each of your stats compared to regular Hone and Fortify Buffs which are +4. Therefore you are getting Defiant Atk boost (+7), and the rest of your stats +6 totaling 25 additional points of damage for Horse and Flying characters.

It all comes down to you however. Horse Emblem runs blade tome builds all the time and relies on the buffs to become almost unstoppable. Infantry units can still run blade tome builds, just not as well as Calvary or Flier characters due to the buffs you can apply. Hope this was helpful

Managed to stack up +26 with an Hone/Fortify each to the side, and one of them has Rally Defense. I also didn't check if Seals stack, but I just assume they don't since the "highest value applies" criteria.

The build is called "Crimson Chilliard" or so. I saw it on the site and just went for it. It falls just a tad short on Trials, given how silly enemy's HP is. However, it seems to get the job done on the Arena. I ran the calculator on vanilla Sanaki (I S-Supported mine, so that's +2 Atk) and it runs around 135-140 wins. I never ran full Escape Route/WoM on a character. She can basically teleport through the map. I'm not so sure how one would go around using it though, and if it's any better than just running Vantage (synergy). I'm still pretty new to this.

Blade tomes belong on fast units like Nino and Tharja. Sanaki isn't fit for that, so keep Cymbeline on her
