Maybe IS can create different daggers that are effective against certain unit types. The Poison Dagger destroys infantry, the Hunter's Knife kills horses, the Sting Shuriken murders armors and the Wing Clipper shoots down fliers. That way, dagger users can actually be viable again

Couldn't agree more. Debuffers sounded good on paper, but the game quickly escalated into a 1-shot or bust type of affair. It's time to give them a niche that is better suited for what the game has become.

There was a dagger effective against armor units only present in Path of Radiance. Or well, the dagger WAS present in other installments of the series, BUT it only had the ability to pierce armor units in Path of Radiance. Later on, the dagger just had a high crit rate and was one of the stronger daggers in general.

The dagger was Stiletto, which was honestly fitting since the dagger looked like a can opener. At least, to me it did anyway. Hehe.

Knives and Daggers never really had their own weapon class until Path of Radiance, and did appear in subsequent games in the series. Though sadly... they had limited advantages. Throwing knives were a things, which traded their attack power for range, which was useful. Beast Killer was another weapon in Radiant Dawn, which did extra damage only to beast tribe laguz units. Those are only daggers in the series that did extra damage.

Though why the hell did Heather start out with a Bronze Knife in Radiant Dawn. It had 1 might. Count it! ONE MIGHT, which was awful.

I'm pretty sure Yukimura is the only possible 'Horse' dagger wielder, and I don't know, he was probably one of the least impactful characters I've ever seen, with some of the worst stats and growths on top of that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I like Sharp's point though, I think something Hunter's, Sting, Barb (Wo Dao), Slaying/Killing, and even Brave Daggers can be quite easy to add.

But I would personally like something more unique, something that sets daggers aside from the other weapon types. I think Attack Smoke was a step in the right direction, debuffing 3 stats in AOE is pretty insane, especially against units like Black Knight or Brave heroes, or against other bulkier units. However, I'd like to see some actual game changing weapons in their category for once.

Well I've never played a Fire Emblem game other than this, so my comment was just in the context of Heroes. I have Fates, but have been too busy playing Heroes or other games on my Switch to give it the light of day...ha

I would love for some more unique ideas as well, but I went with the unimaginative route because of the fact they already made Poison Dagger - so I reckon IS wouldn't be against just expanding that thought.

But Arena is driving me bonkers lately. I'm absolutely terrible at managing horse movement, so I just want a quick fix to help with horses!

You know what, I actually misread your topic haha. I thought you wanted a Cavalry Dagger user, which obviously is the complete opposite of what you intended.

But yeah, as Regimus mentioned, dagger's (in the triangle) are quite new to the series, but you're not wrong to assume they'd add super effective against daggers, because they obviously already have for the more recent games.

I think despite wanting something more unqiue for my Waifu Felicia, the introduction of super effective against weapons for dagger users would actually help them out quite significantly in the current meta due to the rise of Emblem teams.
But yeah, we can only hope I suppose.
