I mean, it might be nice, but there's no way in hell they're giving her a weapon that has *both* the killer effect plus a stat boost even before the refine.

Killer effect and Stat boost isn't even that op, now if the refine gave her something like a no Hp threshold guard then yah it's op since it would combin the 2 best axes for her together at the cost of losing 1 Def

And they could easily make it so you couldn't refine it for Def for a total of 7 Def

I think the combo of -1 CD and Guard effect with no HP threshold synergizes too well with the strong points of Beruka.

I mean, a +10 beruka with enough support would be unkillable by physical units, not even a bold fighter Zelgius would kill her.

I forgot she can't use steady breath, so it might be OK. If she could, then you would be able to sit still and proc 2 bonfires per fight which kills almost everything. Lukas can do this for example, but you have to sacrifice the B slot for guard and use quick riposte on the S slot, and guard also has a crappy HP threshold.

If your making Beruka a physical tank and not using Guard axe The new holy grail SS4 would work ten times better on her then you can use QR3 in her b slot and Iotes shield because Archers can still kill her even with her high def

Yeah but it's on Beruka of all units. It's sort of needed tbh.
Plus it wouldn't be the first. Felicia's plate, Alm's Falchion, Golden Dagger, Forblaze, Wing Sword/ Rhomphas, Dauntless lance, etc

I would change it to
Base: Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). (slaying effect)
Refine: If foe initiates combat, grants Def+4 during combat and Special cooldown charge +1 per attack. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.)

Sure, not a big change, but it fits better.
Refines don't have raw stats attached to the weapon.
So slayer+steady breath has basicly the same effect, but fits the style better.

Yeah I have to agree here. The original version just feels kind of awkward, since it's an untied Breath effect all by itself, and it feels awkward for a new unique weapon to give raw stat boosts. Things like Dauntless Lance or Wing Sword don't give straight-up stats; I can't even think of any that do give raw stats.

But a Slaying weapon with SB refine seems more realistic.

Your phrasing made it seem like it's a steady breath effect, but you meaned it to be a guard effect.
Still, steady breath effect would allow her to blast back bonfire on every counter, instead of one at the end of the fight.

And the 'no raw stats on refined weapon' still stands.

Refines aren't the same as skills they can allow them to use skill they normally couldn't aka Wing Sword and what ever that Lance Clair has that both get Flashing Blade refines

Most Fates refines mimic the Hero's personal skill so it might be a jank rendition of Opportunist (When the user attacks an enemy that cannot counter-attack, damage increases by 4.)
