If you could ensure one unit could never get into FEH.

Leon felt more like a rogue than prissy to me. But he's my favorite gay character in the franchise. I've met a lot of gay people and I can tell you he doesn't come off as a stereotype to me more than anyone else in the game does. If one gets more relevant then yay? I feel like Silas was a waste of an opportunity not to make the bi option at least. But never know with this new game

The people who tend to write bad gay characters are the ones who didn't actually care to write them in the first place or only wrote them and suck at everything else. So it's hard to find a good balance where you see them actually get written well. But usually in books and more underground stories they are a lot better. But yeah I think Leon was great.

I never said Leon was bad. He does feel real. He is treated like everyone else in present day. Still, he doesn't feel as developed as he could be, though I guess I could chalk that up to Echoes' limited support list and lack of extensive focus overall on characters not named Alm and Celica.
To elaborate just a bit further, his three notable points are:
1) His backstory - Pretty interesting. The bullying part was a bit cliche, but the loss of a fellow soldier he cared about was a nice bit of characterization for him.
2) His relationship with Valbar - It's admirable, but it felt like it dragged him down a bit by focusing on it as much as it was. Still, it was a focus done better than with Faye.
3) His overall aesthetic - Maybe it's the aesthetic that leaves me a bit miffed. Stereotypes are not inherently bad, but given how prominent they are in Japanese media, especially for gay men, has left a bit of a sour taste. I can admit that he does feel toned down, but I'm not entirely sure if that was NA's doing or if he was like that in the original JP version. Either way, it does feel like a step in the right direction. That being said, despite how he may not be as blatantly stereotypical as most other depictions in JP media tend to be, the intent is still evident. I'm not looking for every gay character to be like Valbar or Hector in terms of design or personality, but there is a noticeable lack of middle ground. And while design choices like that shouldn't play such a large role in determining character quality, it's hard to think otherwise when there isn't enough variety in design to be able to make a contrasting comparison. What results from misconceptions and narrow-minded thinking is a lack of a dynamic pool of characters to truly and realistically represent a certain group.

That i don't want in: Vaike hands down. The guys like him really annoy me.
One that is already in: that's a bit more difficoult for me to say actually. I mean, i don't hate anybody that is in. Probably Luke. He's the same as Vaike so... yeah
I can't really say anything for the guys from FE 4-5-9-10 cause i haven't played those yet. Difficoult to find and all
